Ellie is the absolute best! She did a transformation cut with some highlight color for me in 2024 and I won't take my business (or my hairs) anywhere else. In the last 6 months I've gotten more compliments from strangers about my hair than I ever have in my lifetime. If you're looking for a stylist that truly listens to their clients and helps them feel comfortable with the hair cut/style experience, then you gotta check out Ellie and Emerald Muse.

I love the set up she has in West Des Moines. It's a studio within a larger complex that allows for a super chill atmosphere. You don't have to hear three other clients yucking it up with their stylists across the room. It's just chill, comfortable vibes. And a solid playlist.

As for the hair of it all...What I like about Ellie is her attention to detail.

I went from long hair past my shoulders to a short, soft mullet style. It was a little scary making the leap into something totally new. She helped me talk through some style ideas I had early on and made me feel excited and encouraged about going for a new look. Then when we did the cut, I could tell she had put thought and care into preparing for things before I even walked in the door. And I didn't leave until she had the cut, the color and style looking just right. Once we were done, she also helped walk me through some styling techniques so I could recreate the look at home.

Bottom Line: Ellie knows her shit. She's creative, inclusive and kind. If you need an "alt" look with all kinds of color or different angles/textures. If you need a new look where you leave feeling like a new person. Or if you need a regular degular ole trim. Go to Emerald Muse. 12/10...

Ellie has been so amazing with all our hairdye, cut and style —wants and needs! My daughter is creative and loves color and Ellie has pulled all the stops to make her wishes come true! Not only is the color amazing and beautiful but the session/space is welcoming and just a great energy to be in. We have always left feeling beautiful and happy!
