Came here for weekday dinner. They do have specials each night such as half off certain bottles of rose on a specific day. It wasn't very crowded but just beginning of dinner. We chose to be seated outside and after our party arrived, waited a bit to be helped. Our original waitress never came so they had the waitress from another section cover our table. She was an absolute gem and so so helpful. Communicated with us about delays since our food took a while and was very responsive/kept checking in (young woman with tattoos on her arms and ear/nose piercings, Thursday evening). She even confirmed with me if it was okay that the Caesar salad had anchovies, which goes a long way for vegetarians. We tried the Smoked Old Fashion which was okay but the Figure It Out blew us out of the water. The house fig reduction was amazing. I ordered the shaved brussel sprout salad which was delicious on a rice pilaf bed. My friends ordered a ricotta gnocchi which has a delicious red sauce. Our table also got vodka sauce which was okay but could use a lot more basil flavor, seemed a bit plain. Another issue was we ordered a cheese spread and opted for the highest order with 5 selections for $25. The five wedges only came with very few pieces of crostini (I actually assumed it was the standard amount they would have served with only one piece of cheese). We asked for extra and they charge $2.50 per extra four small pieces of bread which seems extremely overpriced. It also took a while since there were delays in the kitchen. The overall plating of the cheese seemed cramped and feels like diminishing returns on ordering the larger platter. The ambience was good otherwise, good atmosphere for a dinner. Bathroom was clean...
Read moreI was really excited to visit here for the first time celebrating a friend. I will tell you that will be my one and only time eating/drinking here. Picture this: Friday early evening for happy hour with a group of coworkers and my three month old baby to celebrate a friend’s engagement. We order food and drink and then my baby starts screaming for an unknown reason. My husband and I take turns trying to calm her. Walk her around. Take her outside. Nothing works. I get MAYBE three bites of my food and 2 sips of a drink. Some employee- possibly manager- comes over and says “there have been complaints.” First off- it’s happy hour time! You could BARELY hear my child. I take this to mean we are being asked to leave. We end up having to pay a $70 bill for food and drink we couldn’t eat and some of which hadn’t even gotten to the table before we had to leave. We definitely would have stayed to eat and drink if we felt welcome. There was ONE person at the bar that complained. We were trying to remedy the situation and be respectful of others. Most people around us said “awww she’s so cute. Poor baby.” This establishment is NOT family friendly. Would not recommend unless your child is sitting there silent and stone still. We are not ones to sit at home just because we have a child and this place made us feel like we shouldn’t be out in public. No thanks to them- she’s feeling just fine now. She had...
Read moreMy family and I celebrated my son’s college graduation at this location yesterday. This was my third visit. The bartender was super lovely. We were setup to be seated by the window near the entrance of the restaurant. Then we were switched to in a less visible location. We got the excuse of possible rain showers. 🧐🤔 They sat people exactly where we were supposed to sit. Not happy with it but I went along with it. The server recommended to have separate checks and combine them after dinner if need be. Dishes got served to the wrong persons, I received a medium rare burger which was someone else’s. We were never offered dessert. When it was time to pay, checks got mixed up. A total disaster. Once that was cleared up, I turned around only to find the manager glaring at me. I asked him if he wanted us to leave, he says no, “I’m just saying goodbye”. Which means he wanted us to leave. 🙃 lol My family and I caught a few stares from the patrons having dinner there. Very unpleasant experience. West Hartford has always been accepting in terms of race from my past experiences. I’ll never go back there again. Thankfully there’s one in New Haven, which I’m willing to try. The West Hartford restaurant can...
