IHOP — Restaurant in West Hartford

I took my wife here at 6pm because she absolutely loves breakfast no matter what time it is! When we arrived it was completely empty we thought it would be great because we didn’t think we were going to wait for our food too long. We were completely wrong!!! My wife and I didn’t get our drinks after so long with just SITTING AT THE TABLE, by the time we finally ordered our food and drinks, it took a long time to even get our drinks, by the time we got our drinks and waiting for the food my Pepsi was already extremely flat and watered down, I see the lady that’s supposed to take care of us Just sit on her phone for such a long long long time! Once she got up to grab our food both our food were cold, we were so hungry we said f it let’s eat what we can take it home and watch a movie and eat the rest at home! As we are eating our server forgot to bring us our pancakes, we were finally done with our food and yet we still didn’t get our pancakes, in that case my wife notified the server we can take the pancakes to go instead, still waited super long to get our pancakes we were ready to just go home! Finally my wife had tried to get the servers attention since their servers was still on her phone sitting down, my wife finally raised her voice and said “ excuse me but what is taking so long?” The server yelled back and said what’s the problem?didn’t you say you want it to go?” My wife said “ that’s not the point, I was actually supposed to eat my pancakes with my food, foods done and now I’m waiting the longest just to even leave and go home?” The server didn’t say anything after that she just went to the back and started SLAMMING ON EVERYTHING! she came out and started making loud gestures to her friends that she’s there by herself with no help trying to make us feel bad, but in reality she was very slow, brought our food after it was sitting for so long we were in ihop for over two hours, First time here and last...

I visited the West Hartford location a couple of months ago and had a bad experience. The restaurant wasn’t busy, so I was seated right away. I ordered my egg whites scrambled with American Cheese. My meal comes with 2 pancakes and I wanted 3 so the waitress said I would be charged extra. When my order arrived it was cold. The scrambled egg whites were cold, watery and no cheese. The waitress said she would bring me another order of eggs with american cheese, instead she arrived with a small bowl of melted cheddar cheese and no eggs and said I could put the cheese on the cold eggs. When paying for my order she charged me $5 for the extra pancake because she didn’t know how to charge me for the extra one. I recently went back with my grandson and was seated after sitting for almost 20 mins another waitress came over because our waitress was busy. She asked the waitress if she needed help but the original waitress said she’s fine. I ordered my egg whites scrambled with American cheese. When the order arrived the eggs were regular scrambled eggs with a slice of cheese folded over. I told her I ordered scrambled whites only with American cheese. She took my order back and returned with the egg whites but no cheese. At this point I was annoyed. She then sent another waitress over who came with a slice of cold American cheese on a plate.😡I wanted to leave the food but my grandson was almost halfway done with his meal, even though he was waiting on ketchup and ranch dressing for his chicken tenders. (She returned with honey mustard instead). One of the waitress noticed the look on my face and suggested I talk to the manager. He was very apologetic and corrected the issue. He offered my grandson some fresh fries and took off $2. The waitress we had at this point never returned to our table for refills or even the check. I don’t think I will be visiting...

We have been several times since I posted the review below. Unfortunately things have only gotten worse... we found the wait staff has become less friendly over time, and we've been given food that was actually slimy even after having been cooked. And we still frequently get the wrong items versus what we ordered. The last two times we were there at least one person in booths next to us returned their food because it was either poorly cooked or in one case, slimy like the order we had. We would have returned ours as well but it was busy and didn't want to bother the poor overworked wait staff.

We've always loved ihop, but in the future we'll go to the location in Bloomfield as we've never run into any issues with the quality of the food or service there.

The restaurant isn't nearly as well maintained as it was in the early months after it opened, and the food quality, both breakfast and lunch seems to have gone down. So I changed my initial optimistic four star review to two, which more accurately reflects the reality of our experiences here over the past 10 or 12 months since it opened.

Friendly waitstaff but woefully disorganized. We've tried it a few times now, and while the servers are very nice, the orders have been wrong on multiple items every time. The wait here for food, even when not crowded, seems longer than other IHOPS. Food is good to very good.

Hopefully they'll work out the kinks as it's only been a few months. It's nice to have an affordable, good place to eat in town. We like the dinners as much as the...
