Hands down the best Gluten Free pie in town. Attention folks with Gluten sensitivities! Tired of settling for salad on pizza night? Or worse still, suffering through a GF pizza with crust so dry and tasteless you'd rather eat the box it came in? I've got great news: Jimmie's has your back. Get out of We Ha Center! This charming joint with understated decor is snugged into one end of a mini shopping plaza heading east on Farmington Ave. and it has the hook up for a flavorful GF pizza experience. Step into a pizzeria with a box car layout, each side lined with comfy, roomy booths. A pair of mounted deer heads greet you as you cross the threshold: is it me or do their glassy eyes seem to follow you in? Walk the length of the seating area to the back where the counter nearly spans the width of the place, dividing the wood paneled seating area from the bustling brightly lit kitchen. And prepare yourself for a surprisingly satisfying gluten-free pizza. As someone who loves someone who can't have gluten, we have suffered through many a sandy, gritty, tasteless pie posing as pizza. Some from otherwise highly respectable places, in fact. I don't know how they do it, but Jimmie's GF pizza scores highest around for this reviewer on flavor, texture...even the residual edibility of the leftovers is excellent. My hat's off to you, Jimmie. You bring...
Read moreI live close by and sometimes walk up to order food. I received great service for a good price the first time I went in. The second time, the service was only okay, but the price of my order had mysteriously doubled. I gave them third try based on my first visit only to be waited on by a very rude and snippity waitress. Also, the price was higher than what I expected. For my last visit, I went in at 9 pm, while they were still open. The same waitress who was snippity toward me, begrudgingly came over to the counter as if she was going to take my order but seemed a little off. I said, " The sign says you are open." She said, "We are closed." And smirked with full deliberate intent while two more staff appeared, all smirking and quietly laughing amongst themselves. So, I just gave this place way more social media attention than what it deserves and being that the location is so close to where a lot of West Hartford residents live, maybe a lot of us would appreciate it if the current staff would pack their bags and allow some other business entrepreneur to run the place more...
Read moreNot the best as described in some reviews... ordered a Margherita white pizza and it was extremely bland with no white ricotta cheese sauce on it, very weird. I guess that's their recipe. We also ordered spaghetti with meatballs and the flavor of the tomato sauce was burnt and bland, and could be comparable to a jar of ragu, and linguini pasta rather than spaghetti pasta. Thought we'd try it out because of high ratings, but extremely disappointed... and whoever answered the phone for ordering, she had a snooty attitude while answering questions about the menu items (should've moved on before continuing with the order). I would think customer service needs to improve on their end if they are rated as super friendly and for Pete's sake, I wish the sauce had...
