I was looking forward to this place, as it's run by the owners of El Santos in West Hartford. A lovely place. Great food.
Leon however was a disappointment on all fronts. The atmosphere has not changed from the last two restaurants that failed in this location. So if you are looking for "ambience" Forget it. And the music was not atmospheric at all. I like the Bee Gees, but not in a so-called, next level Mexican restaurant.
Ironically, when my main dish FINALLY arrived after a 1 hour wait, it came to the music of the Bee Gees song, Tragedy! And that is certainly what the food was.
My half chicken, did not look like a half chicken. And it was cold and completely dry and dessicated.
The grilled artichokes were uncooked and impossible to eat.
We had a rubbery steak. And the kids meals came AFTER the adult meals.
And typically, while one waits in a Mexican restaurant for the food, they usually stuff you with tortilla chips. No such luck here at Leon. 3 fried tostadas was all we got. And it took 20 minutes to get one flat beer from the tap.
The service was friendly, but they seemed completely overwhelmed. And after taking our order, they pretty much disappeared.
So, polite pass on this place. It is likely to be another victim of this white elephant restaurant location, and go the way of the other 2 failed...
Read moreAmbiance ok, interior A1. Staff was welcoming and attentive. The food was just ok, overall lack of flavor. The sauces that come with the tostadas could use some improving. The Buffalo shrimp dish is great but picking the shell out of your mouth because it's fried to the batter is annoying. The mole sauce was bland and the rice had too much cilantro. But the carnitas tacos were ordered by my lady and she loved them. (Also, they had an extremely condensed menu with only a few options for each category. Majority of the Google populated recommended dishes listed under this review weren't on the menu so someone needs to update some relevant information. The recommended dishes under this review are better options than I saw on the menu in the restaurant. I didn't even see the food reviewed by others just months ago on the menu. Significant detail.) To compete with so many restaurants within blocks, better food please. The area was lit, just no one here. Again, the service and design were both great; I just wouldn't come here... hungry? Just drinks but there's better options for that in the area too so... this restaurant definitely a one & done situation. And tbh, only landed here cause Bartaco had a...
Read moreExtremely disappointed, my hubby's chicken and blue cheese was spoiled. My frozen margarita had no liquor in it and how I know because I had gone without eating the whole day so without food on my stomach I didn't even get a buzz. I ordered a taco salad but I got a house salad. I was so excited to try this place, but I got a huge disappointment. My husband do not complain about food, but when he took a bite of is quesadilla I saw my baby's face I knew something was wrong. They have happy hour on Sundays and the waiter definitely wasn't schooled on that he claim it was no Happy Hour but we ended up finally getting a happy hour menu. They need a greeter downstairs. The very 1st Mexican restaurant I've gone to that do not serve salsa and chips when you are seated. I only had one glass of water the waiter didn't ask if we want more water or nothing it was something different from other Mexican Restaurants 🤔 Will not return, waist of money. After I just...
