The food was VERY greasy and OK at best. The server that attended to us was very friendly, even to the point of flirting with my friend’s wife. Despite being friendly, the service was very, VERY slow. When we asked him what he would recommend on the menu since it was our first time, he went to the back and started bringing us a bunch of food we did not order. The food kept coming. We did ask for water at a certain point and he only brought us this brown lemonade drink. I can’t drink sugar water, so I was dying of thirst the whole time while eating this very greasy and salty food. He finally brought us two bottled waters.
The overall dinner ended up costing about $70 for four of us, including charging us for the bottled water and some chocolates we really didn’t ask for. To be honest, we only asked for a recommendation, we really didn’t ask for all of that. We were really friendly about it since we are non-confrontational, so I think the server thinks he was a hit and super cool, but overall it was not a good experience. I feel like we were kind of taken advantage of since we were not confrontational. In the end, even if we had confronted them, it would not have helped the score of...
Read moreA Lo Maracucho saved my life. As a Venezuelan, who lived most of his life in America in Miami and moved to SLC, I was VERY worried about not being able to find good Venezuelan food like we have in FL. Especially, after going to a Venezuelan spot near my apartment in SLC and finding the Tequenos and cheese Empanadas to be completely tasteless. I tried a couple of other Venezuelan places too, all were disappointing and I began to think Utah may just not have good Venezuelan food. That is until I found A Lo Maracucho. They're Tequenos are large juicy and have authentically savory Venezuelan style cheese. The green sauce it brings are served in a large serving which always has just the right amount of sauce. Prices are not extravagant. Every Arepa, Tapa, or Patacon I've had has been delicious. From my understanding they make their own Venezuelan cheese and even sell it! This place even rivals some of the best Venezuelan places in FL, which is saying something as there are so many there and a hot spot for Venezuelans in general. The only downside of this place is that its about 30 minutes away from SLC but I gladly do the 30 minute drive every weekend and I'm glad to...
Read moreI went there to buy a chicha, $5.41. I had called and asked if they made it there, turned out to be bottled not fresh, I handed her $6 she then tried to give me a chocolate as change, I told her no, I don't want chocolate, she then argued that she didn't have change because they don't accept cash however she had already taken my cash, no signs posted, she didn't say anything until I asked for the change, I finally told her "how about I get my $1 back and you lose 41c instead of me losing 59c", she looked at me like I was evil, I found the exact change and asked for my dollar back. I will never go back!! The place looks terrible, doesn't look clean, not friendly people and on top of it they'll steal your money because they "don't take cash". The chicha was too thick and had too much cinnamon, not worth it. Go...
