I have had great experiences with several events catered by SLC Dhaba in South Jordan, so I was excited to try out their new brick and mortar location in West Jordan. These guys have now been open for only two months so far, but my experience for the weekend brunch today did not disappoint!
The Copper Creek strip mall along S 7800 in West Jordan has plenty of available free parking. SLC Dhaba tends to see more groups and larger families coming in around 11:00 and 11:30 am on Saturdays and Sundays, so getting here before 10:30 am is a great plan to have the best seating options and parking lot availability.
SLC Dhaba's regular steamed basmati rice is absolutely delicious, but since I had already had that via their catering service on several occasions, I ordered the Paneer Pulao to try a fancier basmati rice with my brunch, and it was fantastic!
I also tried the pakora with both mint chutney and tamarind chutney and the chutneys were both great as was the Paneer Pakora. I would love to try the Samosa the next time I visit this location, but I am sure that is also great as well.
Since this restaurant specializes in northern Indian cuisine, you will not find dosas, vada, or idli on the menu, but SLC Dhaba still offers a wide variety of very tasty vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrees. Also, they offer bread on their buffet, but the bread is ordered and delivered to your table very hot and fresh out of the oven.
Spices are used very nicely and liberally in the preparations of all the dishes, and some of the dishes have a nice spicy heat to them as well, particularly some of the vegetarian ones! The many breads common to Indian cuisine are also all widely available at SLC Dhaba and prepared very nicely, particularly the naan, Bhatura, and paratha, which are all available on the weekend brunch menu.
SLC Dhaba also offers several beverages on the brunch menu, and the tea and mango lassi are both really delicious! The hot tea is served Indian style with cream in the tea, and I cannot recommend it enough, though if you have any dairy restrictions in your diet, I am sure SLC Dhaba would be happy to accommodate your needs and brew fresh tea with no cream in it. You would only have to ask.
I paid extra on this visit because in addition to the weekend buffet, I also ordered the Paneer Pakora, Paneer Pulao, and garlic naan. Normally, you will expect to pay only $20 per person (after tax is added) for just the weekend buffet, but the entire menu is available if you wish to order any menu items in addition to the buffet.
The staff are very happy to explain traditional northern Indian dining customs and traditions and to walk customers like me through the details of the dishes offered on the menu and on the buffet for the day you visit. I highly recommend and encourage everybody to try this excellent restaurant in West Jordan for a high-quality Indian...
Read moreThe food was scrumptious, absolutely great service and really liked how the owners introduced themselves and chatted with our group. The experience felt very personalized. We had ordered jeera drink, and mango mule. Fantastic refreshers for a summer day! For appetizers we had dhaaba chicken kabab and veg cheese kebabs. The kebabs were very tender, great presentation and tasted great. Even the chutneys were so flavorful. For entrees we had chole bhature, malai kofta, chicken chettinad. The chole were good though could have been better. Missed that dhaba style flavor. Chicken chettinad was also very tasty. The star dish for our group was the malai kofta! Stunning texture and flavor. Not sweet but the perfect balance of spices. We also tried dahi bhalla. The bhalla was slightly crumbly but the overall flavors were delicious. We also tried the kulfi and shahi tukda for dessert. Loved both. Ordered the shahi tukda twice, that’s how much we liked it. Overall the experience was wonderful, great food, amazing service, very polite hosts. We went home with our tummies and...
Read moreSad to see one restaurant replaced by another, but with our help this SLC dhaba indian food restaurant can stick around. I feel this place can give the bigger shops a run for their money.
Only one visit so far but the marinated in yogurt tandoori chicken wings were perfectly adorned with flavors that complimented my selection of the nine veggie navratan korma entre. Rice can easily disappoint if not done properly. Yes i am fussy about rice. My meal was served with perfectly cooked long grain basmati rice.
Ten different bread options to choose from on the menu. Ya know some times naan comes out super buttery, here they have a butterless naan option. I found the garlic naan to be just right for me.
If i was to nit pick, i have to confess that I am not a fan of the tall tables from the previous owner, sadly they still remain. It's just hard to get your legs under them.
Service with a smile by all including the owner.
I shall return to try out the butter chicken and compare memories.
