The Homestead — Restaurant in West Lafayette

I don't recommend this place. My lovely GF had ordered breakfast from here and had it delivered by GrubHub to my doorstep. Unfortunately, it had been sitting out for an hour. I'd asked them to make another sandwich; they said they would.

Upon arrival, I was told that I would have to pay for the sandwich again and that my GF should seek repayment through GrubHub. I said that was unacceptable, and gave them back the sandwich from her as well as let them keep the new one freshly made.

Now, here's the real kicker. I'm a social worker. I also run several gatherings a year for kiddos, get reimbursed to take clients to restaurants, and regularly stop at places to eat. If that sandwich was given and responsibility taken, I would have associated that place with her and spent more money there.

As a result, The Homestead has lost my business as well as the company I work for in the area; btw, that would have literally been thousands of $s this year and 10's of thousands of $s in years to come. All this for...

The last time I was there, there was what they called a “3% cash discount”. AKA “we’re going to charge you 3% extra because you were using a credit card”. This is the 21st century. Everyone uses credit cards! That fee that card companies charge you? Yeah, it’s called the cost of doing business. Are you going to charge us for the containers, napkins, etc? No, you wouldn’t, because that’s the cost of doing business. I knew someone who was insistent on not using credit cards as well. Their business pressured their customers to use cash. Well guess what? That business got audited, and let’s just say they’re not taking any more money nowadays. The food was fine but not worth the cost (with the 3% charge on top!). Although I’m a frequent shopper of The Homestead, today was the first time I had lunch albeit a very, very late lunch in the new location! What a treat! I ordered the new Veggie Avacado Sandwich😊!! The fresh toasted bun, fresh avacado, spinach,red onion, banana peppers, and melted cheese was the best veggie sandwich I ever tasted😊!! I’ve tasted them all from every place that makes them. The Homestead is by far the very best😊!! The veggie sandwich was made to order😊!! I loved it so much I ordered (3) more to go for my family😊!! The Homestead is surely named right.
