Westside Diner — Restaurant in West Lafayette

UPDATE: it pains me to say this but after several visits I feel that I should. N oven comes around to check and see if yo I want anything else or if you need a refill. We have had to go to the counter to get a refill. The water smells and tastes of bleach / chlorine so much so that it’s not drinkable. I’m guessing they use the same water in the tea, coffee, sodas and it masks the taste and smell. The lunch / dinner items are very basic and I feel they are poor quality ingredients, so much so that we will not order any lunch or dinner. The French fries were pale and soggy. The price is good but that’s it.

Very simplistic menu but it works. Nothing stands out as original or unique. Basic burgers, fries, simple salads, and basic breakfast items. Price is reflective of the basic simple food they serve. Actually the price is below anywhere else I’ve been to. You order at the table, pay at the counter. It can be difficult to get a coffee refill, I’ve had to walk up to the counter multiple occasions. I’m not sure why I’m leaving a tip since I get my own coffee? Often there are several people standing around near the counter what look to be teenage employees, meanwhile I still have to fill my own coffee at the counter. It’s busy in the weekends. Lots of regulars eat here. Don’t expect the coffee to be strong, it’s the color...

Arrived yesterday with 4 adults a toddler and a newborn. Waited for a table for 30 minutes. They were packed but it was mostly college kids done with their meals and playing on their phones. Once we ordered drinks, my wife waited 15 minutes for coffee and never got a refill. Finally our meals arrived and there was a hair in my food, our servers hair was laying across the whole plate of my omelette. I asked for my remade meal to be packed to go since all at the table we're done eating. We were actually charged for the remade meal, really. Mistakenly we left a great tip. When I got back to our Airbnb I opened my Togo container just to find they made my meal with ingredients I asked to exclude. I called the Diner and was told I my card would be credited back. Ya, that never happened. A busy staff to busy to care about there customers and more worried about there friends that show up to visit them at their job. Wow I hope your friends are...

We go to the Southside Diner regularly so we're a little biased. We were on the West side last Sunday and decided to give the Westside version a try. Very busy and hectic upon arriving. Got seated within 5 mins though, which was surprising. Server (Jafet) came over and got drink orders fairly quickly. Over the course of the next hour or so I was nothing but impressed. The place was packed but ran like a top. People helping each other, getting food out quickly, getting people seated, and just kept humming. Our server told us that they were even short people because the other location borrowed people. They handled it like a champ though. Food was great, service fast and friendly, and cost is always great here. I would HIGHLY recommend both locations....
