Came here for the first time yesterday (Sunday) to grab a meal before the game. We had a party of 6 so we made sure to arrive early. We parked easily on the street almost 10 minutes before their official open time and the sign indicated they were open for operation so we headed right in. We were greeted immediately by the bartender, Patrick, who was so incredibly welcoming and fun! He had us playing bar dice by 10am and he was helpful (we don't play bar dice regularly and guidance) a gracious loser! The kitchen is open concept and had our friends from the Oshkosh area excited to experience, particularly our friend who's birthday we were celebrating. When I shared that detail, it immediately eliminated the other choices I had suggested. Birthday girl chose 4th Base and HOLY MOLY did it not disappoint. These reviews raving about the atmosphere, drinks and cuisine are not exaggerating! Our party ordered everything from shaved beef skillets (my selection and another guests and they were OUTSTANDING), crab stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon, crab eggs benedict, a steak, seafood omlette & texas french toast. Nothing needed to be seasoned. Everything was on point, super flavorful and EVERYONE wants to come back. We did have some "opportunities" that could have been improved. One order never made it to the kitchen. They did make the missing order and were very apologetic. The french toast originally just came as toast. They remedied that quickly. It took close to 30 minutes for our server to calculate our bill (which of course having an open concept kitchen with no menu keeps prices a bit mysterious) but in her defense, she was newer and we forgot to mention we wanted our bills split into 3 before we started imbibing and ordering food. This DID NOT detract from the experience. We were patient and it didnt really postpone our intended departure time. We are HOOKED and will be recommending 4th Base to EVERYONE!

Ok, this isn't going to be good. While the food and the atmosphere were great our server couldn't have made this a worse experience. This was September 3rd at about 11am (in case anyone from this establishment who gives a rip reads this) we walk in and yes its busy but not out of hand crazy. Four seats open up at the bar and we sit. It's my sons 13th birthday and we are on our way for a ball game. Not real wild about being at the bar with my son but what the hell everyone was being respectful and we had a ball game to get to after all. Then we sit and we sit while this young lady repeatedly passes us by without giving us eye contact or a courtesy (be with you shortly) while serving others who had walked in after we had. Finally she is stuck having to begrudgingly serve us a few cokes while we asked her for a menu. She explains how the food operation works and we get that under way. You could tell the was some tension between an older woman that worked there and her (for good reasons I'm sure). The food was great and didn't take all that long, the point of this is that personal is very important to one's experience at an establishment. I wish I had made a difference decision on where we ate and I understand being busy, but it doesn't give one the right to be unfriendly. Sorry to the rest of the workers there that I'm sure care about ones visit to your place.

4th Base is a unique Wisconsin experience that that first opened in 1977 and was featured in 1989’s movie ‘Major League.’ Essentially it is a sports bar where the range of food offered goes way beyond typical ‘bar food’ to include things like pistachio encrusted salmon, king crab legs, or a true tenderloin steak sandwich. The jalapeño poppers are made fresh and are the best anywhere as are the hand dipped chicken tenders. While there is an on-wall ‘specials’ bulletin, there is no official menu at 4th base: they will make anything you desire. How it works: there is a ‘protein case’ where you can see all the different fresh fare incl. chicken, seafood, pork loin, & steaks and choose what looks best to you. Then, imagine how you’d like it prepared and tell your server. That’s it. What to wear: in true Wisconsin spirit not only the fare is a hybrid of haute-cuisine and bar-food but so is the attire. Feel comfortable in jeans and your team’s jersey (unless it’s the Chicago Cubs!) or in an Armani suit with an Hermes birkin. There is no pretense here. For someone like me who has spent 40 years in southeast Wisconsin 4th Base is both a home run and home-plate.

Well, you stop by a dive bar you figure you will get dive bar prices. Think again. The service was nothing special, not the worse but not the best as well. We started off ordering bloody Mary's for my wife and I. The server didn't ask how we wanted our blood's, (as a bartender or a server you should always ask. Some people don't like spicy) strike one. Our drinks came out about 5 minutes later, not bad but there were only 5 other customers. Next, when asked if we wanted food, we were told they do but they don't have menus? Strike two. What bar or restaurant doesn't have a menu, I figured out when we left why. We were told all of this food they have, we were impressed. The server then brought us back by the kitchen were the food was, so you can see all the food. It looked alright, nothing eye dropping. I was still confused, even on the food they had displayed to pick from, not one price was listed. We ordered our food. I server then disappeared for 15 minutes and would come back to serve our food.

I ordered to scallops with bacon wrapped and a plain burger. My wife ordered a seafood portabella mushroom, all of the food options were rather small. First, the bacon wrapped scallop were over cooked with the bacon being overcooked. The scallops were rather bland, so they give you a bowl of butter to dip it in. My burger wasn't cooked to order, I wanted medium rare, I go med well to well done. The bun was rather hard and burger overall was subpar and no seasoning, strike three.

My wife's dish was just horrible. The seafood they used was disgusting, she could barely eat it all and I had a bit with disgust. It tasted like the seafood was old and not cooked properly. I am not sure what else to say, not good.

Finally, our bill came and this is were the anger sit in, but I didn't say anything inside out of respect for my wife. 2 Bloody Mary's with vegetable fixings - $24.00 2 Overcooked Bacon wrapped Scallops - $16.00 1 Hamburger not cooked to order with hard bun - $10.00 1 Rotten seafood portabella mushroom - $24.00

Total with tax $79.00.

We just came in for a late lunch. I have been drinking and eating food at bars for a long time now. Never in my life have I paid such outrageous prices for subpar food. I could eat at 4 star restaurants in Milwaukee, we have. Pasta Tree, Hotel Metro, Lousie's, and etc.. and spent the same or less. However, the difference is we knew that we would be paying more because they are nicer establishments, with valuable reputations.

So it makes sense that they don't have a menu or won't even tell you their prices of their food. They know no one would buy that crap food and it would all go bad. People don't go to dive sports bars to spend almost a $100 with tip for lunch date. It just doesn't happen. I can go to J & B's on bluemound and get better food and drinks made for $30 for two people, maybe $40 if I am really drinking. Everything from the bloody's, burger, scallop, portabella was a bad experience.

DO NOT STOP HERE....

180.00 (pre tip) Was our total bill for this(Excluding Erin She def Rocks). HOW!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Comparing quality and price to other places in Milwaukee, I think Its best if we never visit 4th Base again. There are much better experiences and much better quality food and service!

We had no plans, and decided to visit a spot we had a great experience at prior to tonight, during the 2018 NBA playoffs.

Just sharing my experience at 4th base, on 02/18/2023, along with revealing some information that I otherwise wouldn't have known.

The Customer Service, engagement, response time from the Bartender Erin was absolutely amazing! Erin (please forgive me if this isn't the correct spelling) was is a superstar!!!! Every ""spot" in Milwaukee needs and Erin on their staff! The Table Runner/Server didn't introduce herself but throughout the remaining visit she was extremely attentive to her other tables, as me and my date quickly observed. Erin was gracious enough to leave the bar area when me and my date needed anything drinks, when our appetizers were ready, when our food was ready, when we needed refilling of our drinks! She even shared stories finding common ground of being a light weight with my girlfriend! She shared a story with us and we werent at the bar!!!!!

Our server must have been extremely busy with the 4-5 other tables that were there. We didnt get her name, she brought us our drinks after Erin had already come to ask us if we needed refills. She is adorable but could use a class or two in server etiquette especially for the 180.00 tab my girlfriend and I managed to leave. Erin made this bearable! Our server and the food did not! Please if you take nothing away from this please know that our wings were charred... like fell asleep while cooking charred. My girlfriend asked for marinera sauce for her mozzarella sticks to be placed on the side. the Mozzerella sticks came with the sauce drizzled on them. I asked her was she going to dip them and she said yeah so i convinced her to just take them... I asked for a medium well steak! the steak came out RARE!!!!!! Her was perfectly! Good God because if they had messed us her meal I'd have caused a scene. I can deal with wrong orders but I will not let my girlfriend deal with it. I am ranting and I am sorry!

Appetizers -1 Order of (2) Mozzarella Sticks -6 Dry Rub Chicken Wings Entrees 1- Medium Bone In Ribeye Steak(that came out Rare)-75.00 French Fries 1 Medium Ribeye Steak- 45.00 French Fries

Beverages 1 Crown Vanilla and Point Brewery Root Beer 1 Shot of Jack 2 Double Jack and Coke 2 Point Brewery root beer

I cannot remember the pricing for the miscellaneous items but the total bill came...

Stay away from this restaurant/bar. There are no prices for the food. They charged $6 for 4 pieces of broccoli added to a dish. We spent over an hour and a half waiting for our overpriced, not great food, for our group of 10.

Half of our group had finished eating as the other half slowly received their food. We never complained and tried to have understanding for the single cook trying to get everything out.

There was a middle age couple sitting at the bar on the other side of the room drinking. I first noticed them when I saw the guy walking from the back, into the kitchen and grab a handful of pasta from the basket and put it in his mouth. He then sat back down at the bar. A little later he got back up and walked past us to retrieve a tub of dirty dishes from the kitchen and head back through to the back where I first noticed him come from.

After paying our $340 bill and tipping nearly 20%, this drunken, racist manager I’m assuming, asked if we paid our bill (which we did) as we walked out of the door. Half of our party was black. My sister confronted him by asking if he asks this about all of his customers. He was extremely rude. As we walked out again, he asked our server how much we tipped. (Almost 20%) Which once again just goes to show the mentality of this guy. When I heard this I went back in. Admittedly, I was a bit aggressive at this point as I was livid that my family was being treated this way. He went on to threaten me saying “he wished he were 25”.

His behavior, as was mine, was completely unacceptable. We will never return to this place and I highly recommend others do not support this type of business either.

Owner was unapologetic to my brothers review and claimed this guy was a patron. Apparently they allow patrons to grab food out of the kitchen and eat it with their hands as well as clear tables and ask about other patrons bills and tips.

We would have happily shared our experience and mentioned the overcooked steak and pork sandwich with our server had she ever come around to ask us. But clearly they were overwhelmed with a half full bar...
