Bayou Chocolate — Restaurant in West Monroe

I didn’t want to leave a low rating, at all, the first time I came in with my mom a few months back and the girl working was literally so sweet, everything looked delicious, and we loved our treats that we got. I decided to come in today (9/21) to get some as a surprise for my fiance after I got out of work and got there around 4:52ish and caught them as they were about to lock the door. At first I was just going to walk away but the worker opens the door and just says “what do you want?!” There’s really no true way to know what I would want without looking at everything, especially with food allergies, so I said “I don’t know yet.” And then she rebuttals “well we close in less than 10 minutes.” I knew I wouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to make a selection and I work service industry, literally on the same street, but 100% understand the feeling of someone coming in before closing; however, it wasn’t like I was coming in to dine, just grab some chocolate truffles and be on my way. I did say I’d come back another time, but it wasn’t a very welcoming feeling. I will try again on Monday when you open again, but there isn’t a website to contact about this...

I’m giving 3 stars overall because we didn’t try the candy apples, chocolate covered strawberry’s etc. we bought the truffles and we’re absolutely flabbergasted when the “fresh raspberry dark chocolate” item was no raspberry at all! It was indeed some kind of gel that only merely attempted to replicate the flavor of a fresh fruit, it didn’t succeed! In my honest opinion the service and atmosphere were great but the deception of the menu and the overall richness of the truffles are deserving of a 3 star. I will be going back to see if maybe the other menu items will allow me to write a better review...
