I usually love Cracker Barrel and especially the one here in West Monroe. On October 3rd my brother and I stopped here to eat lunch. The waitress was fantastic, but the food had a lot of issues. When my corn muffins came out they were cold, the turnip greens had dried food on the bowl plus cold, the pinto beans were cold, okra cold, and the chicken fried steak was not cooked to where it was completely thawed. I talked to waitress and she said she would have kitchen redo. Upon receiving my next set of food the steak was hot and the turnip greens were hot. The okra and pinto beans were cold. I had just kept my muffins from first time. The waitress asked me how things were and I told her. She apologized, but like I told her it was not her fault that it was the kitchen and that I had no complaints with her. I wish I could remember her name but I can't. I did tell her I was going to talk to the manager but I wanted her to know that we had no problems with her whatsoever. She asked if I would like for a manager to come over and I said yes, please. A manager came to the table and asked what was going on. He was very nice. I told him everything that I had written above. I also asked had there been anymore complaints and he said that he had not received any. He offered to comp the meal and I told him that I was not looking for a free meal, I just wanted them to know. He offered again to comp meal and I said no, but I would appreciate a discount and he said he couldn't do that and then insisted on paying for the meal. I felt bad about that, but with food being so expensive and living on disability I told myself to not let it bother me. I also told him that the waitress was very good and did the best she could. The man behind us heard me and he stopped as he was passing and said I am sorry to interrupt but his meatloaf had come out stone cold. I didn't have any cash so I ran out to my vehicle to get some because I wanted to be sure that the waitress got her tip. Went back in store and looked for waitress and didn't see her but asked for her. When she came out of kitchen I gave her a tip and told her thank you. I was not about to stiff the young woman because she did her job. I had picked up some things in the store and when I got ready to pay the manager at checkout asked me how the food was. I explained above. I told him I had never had a problem with the Crackle Barrel here, yet the food in Shreveport was not good. He asked me to explain and I did. The managers were kind and listened. I have traveled all around different Crackle Barrel restaurants and have not had problems, except in Shreveport and yesterday in Monroe. Normally, I would have stopped at CB coming back, but it really has ruined me...
Read moreOur family enjoys eating at Cracker Barrel on long road trips. But this West Monroe Cracker Barrel is the pits! Tonight, we left before ordering. When my son and I arrived, the host said we would have to wait about ten minutes for a table. Other people were milling around the gift shop, so we assumed the restaurant was busy. We agreed to wait for a table, no problem, even though we were tired from a long day, and there's no place to sit down and rest inside that lousy gift shop. After standing around for about a quarter of an hour, we were ready to go someplace else for dinner...when the host finally called us up for a table. Then nobody greeted us at the entrance to the dining room. We stood there for some time not knowing where to go or what to do, while the host engaged in conversation with somebody behind us. When the host finally returned to us, he led us through a dining room that wasn't even half full! We were surprised that the restaurant was NOT busy! Why did we have to spend so much time waiting in the gift shop? As soon as we approached the host and asked for a table, he could easily have said "right this way" and led us to an open table. Plenty tables were available! Only a handful of people were seated at two or three tables in the first section. None of the tables by the windows were occupied. Instead of seating us there, the host led us to the middle section, which contained the only big group in the house -- a table with about 15 people. Only two other tables were occupied in this section, and many tables were empty. But for some reason, the host seated us right on top of the party of 15! The waitress had a hard time squeezing in between our two tables. She had to balance a tray of food right over my son's head to serve the table next door! Almost as soon as we sat down, our waitress came to take our order. We asked her to bring us drinks while we looked at the menu. Within three minutes (literally, I timed it), she approached our table again. She didn't have our drinks. Instead, she asked again if we were ready to order and seemed in a hurry for us to do so. At that point, we decided not to take our chances on the food. There are plenty of restaurants with good food and decent service, but it seemed to us that this restaurant is not...
Read moreWe had a birthday party for my nephew, the waitress was very professional and attentive, but almost every person's plate came out with at least half of their food hard and over cooked. I ordered a momma's breakfast, everything was good except my scrambled eggs had some egg shells in them and my order of grits were very stiff, like they were just stirred up in a bowl. Everyone that ordered the hash brown casserole complained about the bottom being too crusty and hard to eat. There was 18 in our group and we had two sets of tables set up for nine people at each set of tables which was fine, but when we first got there, it was very hot in that part of the room, we asked for the fan to be turned on and they did for about five minutes, then they turned the fan off, said that the fan was causing the lights to make a flickering light that a person in the middle part of restaurant couldn't take the flickering, which I have no problem with that, except that the fans should be set up to where if one set of people needed a fan, they should be able to have a fan, and if one set of people don't want a fan it shouldn't bother anyone else. Most of the times that I have been to the West Monroe Cracker Barrel, it has been very good eating there, but the last couple of times we've been there, and it seems like if we're in a bigger party of people, seems like the food is worse. The set of tables that I was sitting at, almost everybody complained about the food, the other table that part of the family we're not real close to so they don't say much about their food. But again the waitress was very good and took really good care of us, sorry but I forgot her name, but she really cared about us. I'm sorry that I can't give you a better survey but this trip to Cracker Barrel wasn't like a couple of years ago, as I used to go at least once a month with my wife, that's why I even started the...
