To ensure a secure transaction process for all patrons, it is recommended to use cash payments rather than card transactions at this establishment. My recent dining experience, shared with two companions, revealed a discrepancy in billing. Despite it being my first visit, prompted by a gathering with friends, a review of my bank statement around 10 PM indicated an overcharge. Immediate contact with the restaurant led to a manager's promise to refund the excess amount to my card, addressing the unauthorized tip added by the waitress. However, after several days without receiving the promised refund, a follow-up call was made. A second manager suggested an in-person resolution. Given my location outside West Monroe, where I was only visiting for a baby shower, this option was not feasible. I offered to provide additional card information for a remote refund. The lack of resolution and the dismissive attitude encountered have led to considerable dissatisfaction. To prevent similar issues for other customers, it is advised that the restaurant management either closely monitor card transactions conducted by their staff or consider operating as a cash-only establishment. This recommendation is made in light of the billing irregularities I experienced. While I do not intend to return, partly due to concerns about food quality, my primary aim is to highlight the need for improved financial oversight to protect future diners from potential fraud. This prompted me to investigate further, and I found a Facebook review from two years ago detailing a similar issue. It’s deeply concerning that such practices seem to be ongoing and known. The fact that these billing discrepancies continue to occur suggests a systemic problem that management has failed to address adequately. The service, as noted by another reviewer, is indeed mediocre, but the real issue here is the potential for financial scams. Given these experiences, I strongly advise future diners to pay in cash to avoid any fraudulent charges. It’s disheartening to see a restaurant with apparent knowledge of these issues not taking sufficient action to protect its customers. This isn't just about poor service; it’s about financial...
Read moreI was anxious to try Laughing Crab because my weekly seafood spot got my last 2-3 orders incorrect. I called in my order, but when I arrived to pick it up, I was handed a receipt that didn’t match my description, but the description on my bag was correct so I asked if I had the correct ticket. The girl glanced at it and proceeded to tell the girl behind her about someone needing to sign in or out out of the register. I mentioned again that the items didn’t look correct, she said that’s ok, typed something on the screen, swiped my card and gave me a paper to sign. On my way home, I get a call from Laughing Crab telling me that I didn’t pay for my food and could they get my card number over the phone. I pull over, check my account, and call back after I see that the total was not correct. I tell them the issue and agree to turn around and bring them the remaining difference in cash. They call me back asking for my card number over the phone. At this point, I explain what ticket I was given and tell them I’m pulling into the parking lot. I walk in with the exact difference and find out the description I was questioning was someone else’s ticket that dined in.. I ordered the Combo Special B, half pound, medium, house special. The food wasn’t great flavor wise, and my crab was a little over cooked but it was good. I normally don’t use my butter but the crawfish and a few of my shrimp needed it for a flavor boost. My order also came with sausage instead of eggs despite the description. I also ordered the 1 LB snow crab and was told it tasted good. If I try them again, I will probably try a different dish and leave the seafood boil to...
Read moreSome friends of mine tried out this place right after they opened. They recommended it to me, said the food and service was great. I’m not sure what has changed in the short time they’ve been open, but my experience with the service was completely sub-par for a place you spend $100+ for two. We walked in, the place is newly remodeled and looks great, we waited to be seated for about 5 minutes, we watched servers standing at the bar talking, others running food, nobody acknowledged we were even there. If I didn’t have my mind set on seafood, I would’ve walked out. Finally we were seated and ignored for a little while as the wait staff had some friends just hanging out, they didn’t seem to be eating or drinking, just distracting the wait staff. The bartender came out and introduced herself as our server. We ordered a beer, she brought them out, my mug was half full, my date’s was overfilled. We waited for another good while when she came to take our order. She was knowledgeable about the menu, we ordered the couples combo. While waiting for our food, our waitress brought us our silverware, bibs, gloves, crackers, bucket and sauces. The food came out in a timely manner and was hot. The shrimp and crawfish was great, the crab and lobster were a bit over cooked. I’d consider returning, but I doubt I’d spend the money...
