Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in West Monroe

I don't like leaving bad reviews. I just chew through the trash and never go back, but since no one reads reviews for large chains, I will give my honest opinion.

I went in expecting mediocrity, but I received a bag filled with far less. I ordered 4 filets, medium rare. I received 3 filets and a kidney bean shaped piece of... meat. That is the kindest I can be. It was meat, and I bet DNA tests would even show that it was cow.... but it was not a filet. I'm no cow surgeon, nor am I a butcher, but I know the general shape and texture of a filet, and this didn't pass inspection.

It would all be fine if it was a bargain. I have eaten my fair share of bad, cheap meals, but this whole order was 187 dollars. With no exaggeration, I can make better fillets from Rayville Walmart for well under a quarter of that price, sides included. That isn't bragging - I feel confident, Dear Reader, that you could do the same. I feel confident that my 7 and 6 year olds could do it, and they show no such aptitude for epicurean pursuits.

You can't be less convenient, more expensive and worse tasting... one of those three has to be a positive value to make it a realistic trade off. This outback is inferior in all the categories.

I didn't mention the other food items. They don't deserve mention. Were they bad? No. Were they good? No. They were extra money for no additional culinary value.

I know what you are thinking. "What did you expect? It is outback." I didn't expect anything more than I do from all the other chains. A predictable meal at a reasonable-ish price. It failed on both counts. Not cool. ...

We stopped at the West Monroe LA Outback Steakhouse after driving all day. It was Terrible!! Didn’t even deserve a 1 star. We went inside and passed an employee standing outside talking on her phone. Stood about 5 minutes at the front desk no one acknowledged us. Turns out the girl in the parking lot was the hostess. No apologies for our wait or no one being there. We were seated in the bar at a tiny 2 person booth very close to a loud group of girls. Our waitress was nice but we could barely hear each other talking. We asked if we could move to a quieter table-lots of empty booths. Our waitress had to ask the hostess, she said we’d have to wait 20 min for another table. We elected to stay at the table. Sweet tea was very good. Waitress brought 2 loaves of warm bread and lots of butter. We ordered 3 cheese steak dip and a blooming onion. The dip was good but the onion was dark brown and overdone. We sent it back to have them make the onion again. The onion came out the second time just as overdone as before. We asked to talk with the Mgr and to have our bill credited for the onion. The waitress couldn’t find the Mgr to credit our bill. She brought out refills for drinks. Weak watered down barely sweet tea. Mgr credited our bill but didn’t have the nads to come out and talk to us. Terrible dining...

Great steaks, and even better service. We had a group of five for dinner on a Sunday night. We had a very attentive server. We ordered a variety of steaks, and a couple of them came out undercooked. That's actually better than overcooked! The server immediately took them back.

One of them came back and was still undercooked. And I think we had requested medium.

The best part of our experience was that the server was on top of it from the beginning, and after the second try they got it perfectly. But the manager still took the entire steak off our bill. They threw in a dessert and a free appetizer card.

That kind of response ensures that we will be back! By the way the other steaks were all excellent.

At a fast-paced restaurant you know that they're going to have issues occasionally. It's the quick and attentive response of a server and manager that make me confident that you're going to get a good meal here!

It is a standard Outback layout, plenty of parking. It's on an access road off the interstate. Pretty easy to get to although you do have to wind around a little bit. But it's not hard to find.
