Horrible Terrible service! I was at the Wilshire Grand Hotel on Friday for a conference and went to Primavera for lunch because it's located inside the hotel. I was one of the first few 10 customers lined up because I left the conference room quickly to get a head start on lunch. The confused waiter seated me in the far corner by the wall and kitchen entrance, after the 2 people in line ahead of me refused to sit there and he had to find a better table for them. (The restaurant was not full to capacity, there were several empty tables, and at least 5 -10 waiters.)
Ten minutes later a different younger waiter wordlessly brought me a bread basket with butter and took away the forks/napkins/plate from the other empty chair at my table then he disappeared.
So then I continued to wait for 45 minutes, while the people around me who had entered the restaurant AFTER me, got their salads, hot soups, and pasta and were finishing up their meal. And I never received either a menu or food!!!!
I kept looking around but there were no waiters to call for attention, none of them ever passed close by me, they were un-able to be asked because they darted in and out then disappeared from the other tables at the main central part of the seating area. (I guess this is the "better" part of the restaurant that deserves attention and better service because it's closer to the entrance where customers/patrons can see it from the hotel, and where they seated their groups of 4 or 5 people, whom they considered to be worthy of their attention but not me because I came alone so they ignored me.)
Disgusting! I also observed how another table of 4 grabbed a waiter and complained that they were still waiting for their soup, and the waiter ARGUED with them about how the customers are too demanding and they are under-staffed, then he marched off in a huff to the kitchen (Their soup came immediately afterwards.)
A couple at a table next to me were also waiting for a long time and looking around for a waiter, so I figured this wait was normal. But finally (after 45 minutes) when I saw the waiter bring them their plates of pasta I realized that they had already ordered and their hot food had been prepared. I never even got to order because they never even gave me a menu or asked me what I would like to eat!
I would have been content with a quick meal, but there were only 15 minutes left in the schedule for lunch break. I got up and left after 45 minutes of waiting. There was no staff or waiters at the door to see me out or leave a complaint with.
With only 15 minutes left, I had no hope of getting a hot meal when they hadn't even taken my order yet. I had to go outside, get in my car, and drive to the Dunkin Donuts down the street where I got better faster service (and a coffee, the hotel had ran out of coffee for the conference. There also weren't enough tables or chairs for everyone to sit in the conference room. And I hoped nobody would take my parking spot at the hotel because practically all the parking spots were taken.)
Horrible! Never going...
Read moreWe were staying at The Grand Wilshire next door and decided to order online for our anniversary. We ordered through the website, paid, and got a message showing it would be ready in 15-20 mins. About five minutes after placing the order, I receive a call from Gina stating they are closed and not taking orders. She doesn't apologize, offers no explanation as to why the order went through, why they're closed, etc. We were later told by the front desk attendant at our hotel that they only cater/host special events. I assume a refund will be issued within a couple days, but it's not. I send an email several days later to the email listed on the website and get no response. I reply to the email containing my receipt from the order and still, no reply. My husband calls the restaurant and gets no answer, so we've since filed a dispute with our bank. How many more people have ordered and not been refunded? Why is their online order site still up and running if they're not open to the public? I don't care how great your food is. This is...
Read moreI had a reservation at Grill350 last night for me and my 9 friends, all West Orange residents. The reservation was made more than a month ago. When we arrived, we were told that they would have to seat us at two different tables - they would not put the tables together that were next to each other in the room. Doing this would not have compromised the working space for the staff nor the comfort of other diners. The reason given was that the kitchen was just very busy and that a table of 10 would be too much for them. There was a table of 8 seated right in front of us and when we inquired as to why that group had been seated, we were told that they were “friends of the owner.” I thought surely, when we spoke with the manager, this situation would be rectified. Not so. The manager was surly and adamant that the two empty tables could not be moved together in order to accommodate us. It was not a space issue. It was because of a busy kitchen. It was shameful, disappointing and very poor...
