This establishment isn't going to blow one away with the aesthetics but at least there isn't any offending odiferous emanations wafting about while I stood at the counter to put in my order. I'm going to presume that the counter attendant was not properly trained in hospitality, but probably a family member helping out at staff service. When engaging with the general public, staff should always put on an engratiating smile that is welcoming to patrons that take the time out of their day to come into your place while there are a plethora of other establishments that can easily be frequented just as easy. Anyways, just a tip since I have back ground in areas of providing high end service for elite clientel. As far as the food, I ordered the the meatloaf, mashed potatos, collard greens, and corn bread. I was impressed with the fact that the meatloaf didn't taste like it was made last week. I ordered double slices of meatloaf but one can also just order a single version. The sliced meatloaf was portioned perfectly, just the right size for this hearty meal. I enjoyed the mashed potatos, done from scratch and not by adding flakes to water. The collard greens were done well, quite tasty. The corn bread was good also. I have to say, everything was much better than expected and felt some love in the food. Which is key because I can tell when there is no love in the food quite easily. I definately would like to return just to ascertain whether my experience was simply an anomaly or not. When I return, I'm definately going to dine in. They have two tables that can easily...
Read moreThis was my first time at Georgia maes. So I had the soul bowl with 1 peice catfish ,side of candied yams and side of collards greens and mash potatoes with cornbread . I also had 1 price of fried chicken breast al acarte and 1 peice meatloaf al acarte and 1/2 pint of Mac and cheese.
I wanted to try a little bit of everything. Chicken breast on a whole is usually dry when I have had it in the past at places like popeyes or Publix but this chicken breast was very moist. It was seasoned but more on the saltier side but what caught me was the moistness of the chicken breast. The corn bread was moist as well and scrumptious . The yams were just the right sweetness. The mac and cheese was good but would be nice if it had more flavor. The one thing I really wanted to note was the meat loaf which was what made me give them a 4 star. The meatloaf was a good portion but it was dry and tasteless, not much seasoning. I believe they are a new restaurant and normally I would not be so picky and have just given my 5 star and moved on to support the restaurant but I wanted to be honest especially with the meatloaf so they could have my honest feedback for possible change in the future because I do like their food and its nice to have a soul food place close by in my neighborhood and I want them to do well. I also must note wait time was short , under 10 minutes, food was hot, and the lady who checked me out was friendly . Well that's...

The real star of Georgia Mae's, however, is the food. Every dish is a testament to the rich culinary tradition of soul food. The flavors are bold, authentic, and cooked to perfection, resonating with both comfort and sophistication. Their fried chicken is a crispy, juicy delight, while the collard greens and cornbread taste like they've been passed down through generations. The mac and cheese deserves a special mention – creamy, cheesy, and utterly irresistible.
