In my wife’s line of work, she often has to travel. Which means occasionally, my 3 daughters get to spend the day with dad at work. And let me be clear, they love “working” with me and are real troopers! But when it comes to dinner time, “hangry” is a real thing. 😅
So the other day, while we were wrapping up a 4 o'clock closing in Charles Town, I could tell the girls were getting anxious. When we got into the car, I asked my oldest what she was in the mood for, and without hesitation, she said “I want some good nachos!” Oddly enough, a good friend of mine had just recommended Mi Degollado to me. I figured, why not give it a try!
People sometimes say this, but don’t really mean it. This isn’t one of those times. Because from the moment we walked in, I was truly impressed by this restaurant. The atmosphere and staff that greeted us instantly made me feel like I had made the right choice!
As for the dinner itself, everyone loved their dishes. My taco and enchilada platter had just the right amount of kick. My middle daughter (who is a notorious picky eater), loved her soft shell taco. Lucille, my youngest, gobbled up the chicken tenders, cheese sticks and fries, and Evie, my oldest, loved her dish!
For dessert, we split a banana sundae and fried ice cream. All of which basically disappeared before the server could even walk away from our table. 😆
So, if you are looking for a great family friendly dinner spot in Charles Town, our family would highly recommend you stop here. We hope you have as great of an experience as we did!

Read moreWe are visiting Harper’s Ferry for a few days and decided to come here since it’s one of the only things open after 6pm. Now, I dont know if we are spoiled with good Mexican food in New Jersey, or if this was just a really bad night for them, but, we did not enjoy this food. The chori queso was $8 and came in a small bowl. Extremely oily and thin…more like cheese soup with chorizo. We also decided to get the Al pastor tacos and the quesadilla rellano. The Al pastor tacos were extremely oily. I had to put the meat on the second taco tortilla so I wasn’t getting all that oil and then pair it with the sides given. The quesadilla was not cut and it was extremely liquidly. The guac was good, I’ll give them that. The brands and rice that came with the tacos was super dry and my boyfriend said the breans tasted like dish water. We had gotten a tamale too, and that wasnt bad but it was very mid. Then, we decided to get the fried ice cream because how could that go wrong? Well, it did. It wasn’t fried!!!!! What the hell. About $102 including tip and I WOULD NOT recommend this place if you’re used to good Mexican food. The drinks were...
Read moreUpdate: Still the best, most authentic Mexican food in the area, but I am very frustrated at the experience I just had. I put my name on the wait list and was told that it would be about 25 minutes. I stood in the packed entryway and waited for my name to be called. After 30 minutes, I noticed the hostess walk outside and brought in another party that was here after me. So, I asked the hostess how much longer the wait was, and she said, "I already called your name." I told her that I had never heard her call my name, and she said that she went outside to call my name. Mind you, I was standing right next to the register. So, I said, "So will I be called next?" and she said that because I didn't answer after calling my name she crossed me off the list and to get back on the list I would go back to the bottom, and now it's another 30 minute wait. Needless to say, I left, and while I will still return here at some point in the future, that was really unprofessional. Hopefully, it doesn't happen again.
