Buena Vista Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in West Whiteland Township

4/16/23 @ 1:30 - Lunch review - Only 1 server on duty however, only two other tables occupied. The restaurant is clean, tidy and decorated with Mexican painted booths and décor. We were given a lunch menu but no children's menu available. The server said they could make up a children's portion. I asked if they served Flautas and was told on the dinner menu & not available for a lunch portion. Once we ordered, I noticed there were no condiments on the table and no chips/salsa were served as in so many other Mexican restaurants. We ordered a kids Burrito w/fries $6.90 and Pollo Asado included lettuce, pico, rice, black beans and 3 tortillas $13.50. Again, Chips/Salsa were NOT complimentary as other restaurants. The food arrived quickly (again NO hot sauces on table, salt/pepper etc). The food was hot but the chicken strips were dry and not much flavor. We ordered the fried ice cream $7.95 which we shared and was delicious! I would return for the fried ice cream...

Cross contaimination issues, cockroaches present, food stored on the floor, general unsanitary conditions .... Closed by board of health for imminent health hazard: During a routine inspection of the above referenced facility, the facility was observed to be operating without the necessary knowledge and active managerial control to prevent the occurrence of known foodborne illness risk factors. An imminent health hazard existed due to the number and severity of the uncontrolled risks. Pursuant to §8 -404.11 of the 2022 FDA Food Code the facility was required to cease operations until the imminent health hazard can be abated.

UPDATED: Flunked SECOND inspection as well. Not...

I've only done takeout so can't review table service. All three times we got takeout it was great. The woman who works inside running the house is awesome too. We've ordered:

1. Flautas - delicious, simple with great and plenty toppings and sides

2. Chicken quesadillas - added pico and jalapenos inside for a bit extra. Worth it. Fantastic.

3. At least one order of chips and salsa each time. Y'all NEED to start selling this in bigger sizes. My family could eat a quart of the salsa in a sitting.

4. Taquitos - same review as flautas.

5. Combo with supreme beef tacos and enchilada - nothing but love for this no frills comfort platter.
