Vesta Bakery — Restaurant in Westerly

Had a lovely experience here today! I got one of all their chocolate items, and a bunch of croissants. So, firstly, the croissant. Holy cow. That is the butteriest, must delightfully light croissant I've had yet. Also- My cat enjoyed the croissant as well. She usually only takes KFC biscuits and scones, so I think this means croissants are on the list too now! Completely unrelated, but I felt worth sharing. (note, it's a very rare treat for her to get these things usually) (Filled, plain, otherwise- All the flakey goods were great!) I also got a loaf of italian bread. This, this is a very hearty loaf! I absolutely enjoyed it. Choco Items- Raspberry chocolate heart Mousse bomb Hostess cupcake PB chocolate cupcake I'll be honest and say no, I didn't try them all today. Instead, I stole a nip from the PB cupcake and the mousse bomb. Mousse bomb first- So riiiiich. The hard chocolate shell is fun to crack through to get at that mousse. Lemme repeat- Riiiiiich! But not overpowering, it's really nice and creamy. The PB cupcake was indeed a pb cupcake, and tasty!

We used Vesta many times in the past. The cakes were incredible and the pastry was terrific as well, with lots to choose from. Unfortunately, things have changed. There really hasn't been a selection and the staff has been very unfriendly. Went in today to purchase some pastry for a special occasion and besides already seeing Halloween decorations, the staff couldn't even crack a smile. The bakery seemed dark and dreary and we had to ask if there was anything else in the back as the shelves were empty. Additionally, it seemed as though they were doing me a favor by boxing up the few pastries I was able to purchase. There were no 'thank you' from the staff and they everyone just seemed miserable. Allyson and company made my father's 90th Birthday cake. It was the finish line scene of a thoroughbred race track. I sent her some pictures of racetracks, outlined the scene I wanted and made last minute adjustments. The cake looked and tasted amazing. We got the chocolate raspberry. It was light, moist and melt in your mouth delicious. It had just the right amount of sweetness. I can't say enough about the service and products. Of course, I couldn't resist buying muffins and pecan rolls while I was there. They were just as wonderful as the cake. What really sets these baked goods apart is they are light and have the right amount of sweetness. I can eat the whole thing and enjoy every bite.
