Thoroughly disappointed with what occurred for dinner tonight (7/19/19). I understand that this area gets busier in the Summer months, but nothing can explain over an hour and a half wait for food. With an appetizer coming before drinks were served, we were already tipped off in the beginning that the flow of service was not going to be ideal.
Though Shannon, our waitress, was entirely apologetic and was very attentive to our needs, the kitchen is what lacked tonight. We had two orders of the special--a chicken francese type dish with Parmesan risotto and with lobster, but what we were given (over 1.5 hour later) was the regular chicken francese dish with a mere dusting (no exaggeration) of lobster pieces. This was in addition to a pizza--something that I would assume doesn't take too long to cook, but was served aside the two specials a long time after. At this point, I would recommend ordering the regular chicken francese entree because the lobster in the special is minimal and the regular entree comes out as $10 less on a price perspective.
While outside on the patio, what appeared to be the manager came out to apologize to one table in particular, offering them a round of drinks on the house and chalking it up to serving a big party (a bachelorette party that came in a half hour after we arrived). I appreciate someone who can take fault in their mistakes, as opposed to this male manager type figure who apologized that the server did not warn tables of the backup prior (which she did). However, anyone's patience will be short on an empty stomach and the promise of food to entail. Though we arrived before this table, we were not offered the same discount.
While it's not atypical for the bottleneck of a restaurant to be the kitchen, I would've much rather preferred to have had a longer wait for a table where they can serve guests timely than to have waited for as long as I did...

Longo’s Ristorante is, without a doubt, the crown jewel of Italian dining in Westerly. My family has been coming here for years, and every single visit feels like coming home. From the moment you walk through the door, you're welcomed not only by the comforting aroma of authentic Italian cooking but by the warmth of Jerry and his incredible family. Their kindness, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality make every meal memorable.
The food? Out of this world. Longo’s serves up the best Italian cuisine in the area—hands down. Every dish is made with such care, tradition, and flavor that it’s impossible to leave disappointed. Whether you’re a first-timer or a regular, you’re treated like family.
One dish that has become an absolute staple for me is the meatball salad. It might sound simple, but it’s nothing short of perfection. I order it every single time I visit—without fail. The meatballs are tender and flavorful, paired perfectly with crisp greens, and the whole dish is dressed just right. It’s the kind of appetizer you crave again the moment you finish it.
There’s just something special about Longo’s. It’s a place filled with love—for food, for family, and for community. It’s where memories are made, where stories are shared over glasses of wine, and where the food always tastes like it came straight from the heart of Italy.
If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and make a reservation. Longo’s isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a tradition. And one I’m proud to continue with my family for...
Read moreWe went to Longos on February 2 of 2024. We made a reservation for 5 and arrived as they were just opening the door. The hostess had a big smile and welcoming as she showed us to our table. It was chilly inside since it was just opening but a beautiful fire was going. The waitress who brought us two pieces of bread was robotic and had no facial expression, no smile or anything. We ordered eggplant parmigiana and chicken parmigiana. My eggplant was not cooked all the way and was chewy. After two bites I couldn’t eat anymore. My husband’s chicken parmigiana was so thin you could see through it. I should have said something but we read numerous reviews and everyone, and I mean everyone, only had wonderful reviews especially about the chicken parmigiana. When our waiter came over to ask if I wanted to take home my eggplant since there was so much left on my plate I should have said something. I was hoping he’d ask how it was and I would have told him but that’s my fault. As I said after reading numerous positive reviews I thought this would be wonderful. Maybe it’s just my husband’s and...
