Joella's Hot Chicken - Carmel — Restaurant in Westfield

The food itself is whatever, too salty and definitely not to the quality other Joella's locations had a couple years ago. They're cutting corners, too, and it's clear...no more Boylan's sodas, less seasoning on everything unless it's salt, and just an overall lack of care or desire to be better than chicken you'd get at any fast food place.

But that's not even the worst part. This is easily one of the dirtiest, least poorly maintained restaurants I've been to in a very long time. Here's a partial list:

The ketchup packets by the drink stand were stuck together in one gross mass. It was probably from something as simple as a soda spill, but the spill happened a while ago and was pure syrup at this point, and they hadn't bothered to clean it up.

Some of the hot sauce bottles on the tables had a cloudy white substance at the top of the bottle. I'm not sure what it was, but I've had plenty of bottled hot sauce in my life and have never seen one do that, so it wasn't natural separation of the vinegar and peppers.

The ketchup bottles at the table I was unfortunate enough to sit at had brown chunks of...something...on the top of the bottle.

The sink in the women's restroom was broken entirely, replaced by a bottle of sanitizer. This also appears to be the restroom the staff uses, so I hope they were washing their hands once they got back to the kitchen...

Other miscellany, like cracked vinyl seats, weird dried substances on chair backs, straw wrappers strewn all over the drink stand, and various pieces of garbage in the potted shrubs outside of the restaurant. These things individually may not be much of a worry, but along with everything above, it just contributed more to the fact that the staff does not care about the restaurant's appearance.

If these are the things that Joella's is comfortable with the customers seeing in the front of the restaurant, I truly dread what horrors are going on in the kitchen, hidden from public view.

This was my last time at Joella's. My stomach turns even thinking...

This was my first time ever trying Joella’s, and I thought it was delicious! There were a few things that I wasn’t aware of. For one, the chicken sandwich is actually 3 chicken tenders on a bun. It was really good, but I was confused at first when it was not a chicken breast. Secondly, the drinks are not Coke or Pepsi. They were from Boylan Bottling, and were super good! They had some normal flavors like Cane Cola and Diet Cola, but also some different offerings like Creamy Red Birch Beer. They do also offer bottled alcoholic drinks for purchase behind the counter. The food came out quickly and was delivered to our table. A problem we had was that we were given chicken in different hot levels. You get to pick the level of spiciness you want, and mine was delivered the wrong level of spice. Also, we found that the Parmesan fries tasted almost exactly the same as the normal fries (which are super good)! The Mac and cheese was also super creamy and rich which I really enjoy! The sauces we ordered were also all awesome! For a first time visitor, you usually only get one sauce per order and another sauce is extra $$. Overall I enjoyed the experience and will be going back...

First time coming here, was really looking forward to trying this place, but will have to wait until another time.

Staff was very friendly however the reason I am rating a one star is because of how inconvienced we were.

We came in and stood at like at 7:54 P.M. Was waiting a couple minutes for the people in front of us to finish ordering. When we stepped up to place our order it was 7:59 P.M. We wanted to get the $30 meal deal. However the lady at the front counter refused to let us get that claiming the deal ended at 8. I didn't cause a scene I just simply said we will go somewhere else, but the reason this upset me so much is because we had already been waiting in line before the deal ended. I would understand if we had stepped into line after 8, but we had already been in line to place our order at 7:59 P.M. So we should not have been refused. So the reason for the 1 star is because of being stingy.

We decided to go to Daves Hot Chicken instead. If would had known this was going to happen would not have drove down becsuse we just had gotten finished seeing a movie in...
