I’m sorry to even write a review with only 2 stars because the customer service was excellent. The food not really that great, I had it for lunch and I’m still burping up the taste and grease from it 6 hours later. I travel/visit Texas 3-4 times a year so I do know what real good tasting BBQ is. This was far from it. I have had better pulled pork elsewhere in MA as well. The pulled pork was tasteless unless you added the bbq sauce, which seemed to need more flavor as well and seemed watered down. The brisket was so greasy I couldn’t finish it and there was a large puddle of grease in the container. The ribs were actually ok, but could have been better. Worse was it wasn’t hot or even warm, lukewarm at most. To people in this area this may taste like real bbq but I’ve had much better…maybe I’m bias to bbq down south because I’ve been to some of the best local places down there. Lastly the portion was very small for what I payed. Again maybe I’m bias to what I normally get for money down south. I will spend $60-$70 for some good bbq down south and I take home left overs that will last me couple of days. This place I payed over $35, and for that I can go sit somewhere and get served and get a much larger better tasting meal. I kinda feel like I was ripped off for the portion I got and the tasteless meat. The only thing I really liked was the cornbread. Threw away 1/2 the food. Again the customer service was excellent, guy super nice. Hope it gets better I’m willing to try again, maybe I came on a bad day and food was old who knows. Disappointed as I was craving some bbq and someone...
Read moreOn a sunny and beautiful Thurs afternoon during peak lunch time (and summer), the wait for food is an average 35-40min, keep that in mind.
Location is cute and this BBQ trailer is one of a kind and a rare joint in this hood. There are decent outdoor space for dine-in but only one (out of 3 or 4) tables are shaded.
There is this strong stench of BBQ aroma (not in an appetizing way) all over.
Price is definitively on the pricey side and large for a mere additional dollars but double the food makes way more economical sense. With that said, even a 1/4-lb meat (small) is enough for 2 person without feeling too cloying. So a large can easily feed 3-4 and now per-person cost is no longer expensive, actually, quite affordable even.
I ordered the small combo meal with 2x ribs, brisket, pulled chicken. With 3 sides of cole slaw (double up) and beans. Their only 3rd option is corn bread btw. And I bottled their original BBq sauce. Now goes my taste feedback:
Chicken: 50% is dryer than I like and the rest within normal limit.
Brisket: at or above average.
Ribs: above average.
My other BBQ joint credentials prior to this: Tennessee BBQ (Framingham), Blue Ribbon (Arlington), Red Bones (Somerville), BT Smokehouse (Sturbridge or Charlton), Willie Jewels (Nashua). Plus countless ones that I don't care to list.
Final thoughts: with the right weather, minimal crowd (wait time) and with buddies, this place is a thumbs up and I'll return. Glad...
Read moreBy far, the best BBQ in New England. I'm a huge fan of brisket. I lived in TX for a couple years as a kid and learned to LOVE it. When we moved to New England, I figured the odds of me getting good BBQ were as good as zero. I liked FireFly and Blue Ribbon BBQ, but not to the point that I'd drive out of my way to eat there.
Then...I found Hubba's. They are right next door to my current office and I tried them a few months ago and I was immediately hooked. I passed on the recommendation to a buddy from TX. I wanted his take as well. He echoed my sentiment with enthusiasm.
I will be moving offices soon, but I can definitely see driving over here from Concord during lunch.
They do all of the BBQ standards. Brisket, pulled pork, ribs and chicken. The sides are traditional fair including corn bread, baked beans and cole slaw. Only thing I wish they did was collard greens...oh well...can't have everything. :)
The BBQ sauce is AMAZING. Zesting, tangy, and not overly sweet. A very welcome addition to the pulled port sandwich as well as the brisket.
Brad, the owner, is happy to sell you bulk BBQ as well. You cannot go wrong with this place...trust my friend Dan, a native Texan. He wouldn't steer you...
