Hungry Howie's Pizza — Restaurant in Westland

I recently contacted this location on behalf of a local nonprofit to inquire about a potential in-kind food donation. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing due to the behavior of the manager who answered the phone. Rather than offering assistance or directing me to the appropriate contact, he was dismissive and unprofessional. When I asked for the contact information of a supervisor, he refused and stated, “I don’t give out his phone number because you guys are scammers.” This accusation was not only baseless but also extremely inappropriate and uncalled for.

For contrast, I reached out to the Hungry Howie’s in Westland, Michigan, (N Merriman Rd) where the staff was courteous and helpful. They had no issue providing the contact information for their supervisor, who then connected me with corporate, the exact outcome I had originally hoped for.

It’s unfortunate that a single location can create such a negative impression of a brand, especially when others within the same franchise uphold much higher standards of customer service. Food was good, however the young lady taking my order was super hard to understand, and not in an old man type way. I'm 33, and felt like a 90 year old speaking Spanish with someone who just learned English. Also, she tried upselling me on their deserts after I told her I wasn't interested, seriously like 4 times I said "no thank you hun..." I will say, she was a nice girl on the phone, I just didn't appreciate the effort and attention it took to oder a large round pepperoni and a 3 cheese bread. No special request, or over specific... just plain Jane. I'm not opposed to ordering there again, as I mentioned, the food was good. I’ve been getting the same thing every time I order, a jalapeño stuffed bread! But im really disappointed because I asked the person on the phone if he can put light jalapeño instead of the usual amount because I can’t handle spice when im sick, and he said he can’t do that because there isn’t a button on the system to do so. No problem. I then asked if he can ask his staff who’s making my order verbally to put light jalapeño and they said they can’t. Extremely disappointed especially because that’s all I eat from here.
