This place was recommended to me by a co-worker who knows the owner. I wish there was a way to give it zero stars.
My wife and I arrived around 7pm and it was pretty slow. There were only four different parties there. It took the hostess 2 minutes to seat us in an empty dining room. As soon as we were seated the waiter came by to ask us what we wanted to order before we even saw a menu. We asked him for a moment to look over the menu. He then disappeared from the dining area and when we were ready to order we had to ask the hostess to get our waiter.
At ~7:10pm we placed our order for their garlic knots, a medium pizza and two fountain drinks. After serving our drinks our waiter again disappeared. Around 7:30 we were served our appetizer which was burnt. By now both our drinks were empty. The service staff were socializing by the register and ignoring the customers. I had to get up and ask for a refill. Around 8:10pm we were tired of waiting for our food and asked for the check and to have our pizza to-go. It took them another 10 minutes to get our food to us. The pizza looked small and horribly made with an extremely hard crust. We paid $22 for horrible service and food we only nibbled at.
Bottom line. Horrible service and the food isn't even on par with a $5 pizza from the...
Read moreI'm not a pizza connoisseur but I know what I like. Everything about my dine-in pizza dinner here was fantastic. I'll be setting up a dinner party there soon based on my experience.
The service was quick, pleasant, and good. The restaurant has many tables and booths, so there shouldn't be a wait. There is no waiting area for people getting pizza take-out so there can be quite a big pile of people at the door. The door opens directly to the outside so it can be a bit chilly in winter, too.
We had the garlic knots, of course, and they were really good. They were greasy, warm, and delicious with a side of marinara. Their sauce is very fresh tasting rather than the usual sauces that are cooked down more. If you like garlic you should start with these.
We ordered a large pizza, and it tasted really good. The crust was perfect, I thought. It was crispy but not too crispy, greasy but not too greasy, and cooked to a golden brown. The only drawback, in my opinion, was the freshness of the sauce. Because it was still chunky with tomatoes it still carried a lot of water. That made the pizza a bit watery. That sounds bad but it wasn't. It was just a little different.
I would definitely recommend The Garlic Knot if you're in the mood for pizza and you don't want the run-of-the-mill...
Read moreI've been to Garlic Knot several times in the past, and have previously had a decent experience -- fairly good New York-style pizza, friendly if slow service, and prices just shy of too high. That past experience is the only thing sparing them a one-star review.
I ordered a 16-inch Chelsea, a meat-and-cheese pizza, and was assured it would be ready in 20 to 25 minutes; content that I'd beaten the dinner rush, I sat down to wait.
A full hour later, the girl at the cash register seemed to suddenly remember the crowd waiting for their pizzas in varying states of patience, and began frantically sorting through the stack of completed orders on top of the oven. Mine was buried at the bottom of the pile.
If this were a Michelin-starred pizzeria, I could forgive an hour-long wait -- but while the pizzas are alright, they are in no way worth this kind of wait. I've heard it described as 'expensive cheap pizza', and given how much grease was bleeding out of the lukewarm pizza by the time I got it home, I'm hard-pressed to disagree.
Passable pizza, offset by obscene waits as a result of a cluttered and disorganized kitchen and a total lack of communication between kitchen and front desk. If you go, go when the place is completely empty -- otherwise you'll be waiting for a...
