Second time here, which was by far one of the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant and this marks the first bad review I've ever left for a restaurant as well.
The chips and margarita I ordered was nice, but the catastrophe came with the Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo. When the person I was with and I received our dinner order, we were deep in conversation, so I barely looked at the plate and started eating while talking. After a few bites, we had a break in conversation and I noticed my order looked...off.
First of all, the description for Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo is the following: "Large shrimp sautéed in a garlic sauce, cooked with fresh mushrooms, served with rice and beans.". The first thing I noticed was my dish had 0 mushrooms. None at all. Second thing I noticed was how the plate was served / prepared. In the large picture on the menu they have in the restaurant of the Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo , it not only shows the shrimp together with mushrooms on the plate, but also the garlic sauce in a separate dish. if you see a picture next to the item on the menu, don't you expect it to be served the same or similar? The garlic sauce was so oily and splashed all over the mushroom-less shrimp that it was just running into the rest of the plate. My rice and lettuce ended up being soaked in gease very quickly.
My disappointment didn't end there though. Our server was incredibly rude for some reason when I brought everything to her attention. Even though I repeatedly made it clear that I understand it wasn't her fault as she didn't cook the dish and my complaints were directed at the cook specifically, she still took it as a personal attack and was extremely rude and short with me the rest of the time like it was my fault my order was wrong? She offered to have it re-made, but why would I want such a simple dish remade by a cook who screwed it up so bad to begin with? The waitress also made no effort to fully rectify the situation by taking the item off of the receipt.
Unsure how you can charge a customer for a dish they didn't order. You know those memes "what I ordered vs what I got" from Wish purchases? This was exactly that.
Will never return. Had to take a trip to buy some Pepto right afterwards and laydown most likely due to all...
Read moreReally have enjoyed the food here throughout the years… however, this particular location is very inconsistent with the quality.
The salsa lacked flavor and heat. It was not prepared very well. Honestly was mostly tomato juice with large pieces of cilantro added and the occasional piece of onion. Salt, garlic, jalapeño were all lacking. Very subpar. And the chips tasted old.
Our meal was served piping hot with tons of cheese on top. There was a tiny bit of green chili hidden underneath all of the cheese.
This is by far my biggest & consistent complaint: if you are selling a smothered burrito, please actually smother it with chili. Try to match the picture in the menu. And when your customer comments that there is no chili on a smothered burrito, DO NOT charge them extra (this happened last time we came here)!
The outside of our meal was super hot, so I was very surprised to bite into a lukewarm burrito. Most of the burrito was warm, some small parts were actually hot. Not a big fan of feeling like I’m being served undercooked food.
I was going to mark it down to 2 Stars, but I know that 3 Margaritas as a whole is far better than this particular location. Just wish that someone would listen to these complaints.
Think we’re going to hold off returning to this locale for a while. Which bums me out as it is in walking distance to our home.
Last note. This note is directed at every restaurant. The cost to eat out anymore is getting extreme. And I feel like restaurants are just expecting people to be okay with the pricing, and to just take the lackluster food (and sometimes service). It is that typical American attitude of entitlement. I for one am over it. I work very hard for my money. I consider eating out a way to treat myself and my family/guests for that hard work. Being expected to pay top dollar for fast food quality is ridiculous. Same with the being expected to tip 20% consistently for service where you have to ask for a drink refill or wait to get a side that you requested with the meal.
Getting to the point where I know everyone is feeling that they are being taken...
Read moreI eat Mexican food 3x a week, so I've been around to several Mexican spots in the Metro Area.. Had lunch with a friend, and I can positively say neither one of us will EVER go back to this location. First, nobody speaks functional English. I'm talking very basic english. Second, food took forever to get to the table, despite the fact that is was almost dead, on a Saturday afternoon. Should have been our first clue. When our food did arrive, my friend's seafood dish was basically inedible. Tons of cream with bits of seafood floating around in it, and so rich, she couldn't eat it . My small combo plate was tasteless, and ended up costing $25 for a ground beef taco, cheese enchilada, and plain bean burrito. Green chili, sour cream, and guac were extra. (Same dish, elsewhere is $12) Before our lunch was over, we both had to sprint to the restroom several times, with stomach issues. We were fine before we ate. I had a stomach ISSUES and diarrhea, for two days afterwards, as did my friend. Ordering an extra meal to go at the end of our lunch was like pulling teeth. Our waiter didn't stop to check on us ONCE. We had to ask other employees to hunt him down, and it was as if we were interrupting him. Groups of employees were standing around visiting because nobody was there! The restaurant itself was rather threadbare, and shabby. I will never return and will spread the word. I've eaten at other locations of this chain, with better conditions, but I doubt I'll visit ANY OTHER LOCATIONS, either, going forward. Too many other Mexican restaurants that have better service, better food, and better service. This is the worst dining experience I've had for...
