McSwiggans Pub and Restaurant — Restaurant in Weymouth

I visited McSwiggans Pub on 2/25/23 at around 6:00. If I could give no stars I would have. I walked in and sat at the bar. I must have sat there at least 5 minutes and neither bartender acknowledged that I was there even though the younger guy looked at me twice. After a few minutes longer, a couple sat at the bar near me and the younger bartender walked right over and took their drink orders. Needless to say I was beyond angry! I have never been completely ignored at a bar like that since it was legal for me to sit at a bar. That is more than rude. It's bad business. I will absolutely not return to that establishment. There are plenty of other bars in the area where they know how to treat their patrons.

This is my response to the owners response of my review. First off, everything I wrote was ABSOLUTELY 100% true. I give fair reviews whether they're good or bad. You mentioned that you checked your cameras and didn't find evidence of me being in there. How would you even know what I look like? I don't trash any establishment with a bad review that doesn't deserve it. For the record, I've been to plenty of establishments that have treated me well at the bar and didn't ignore me. As I stated, I sat at the bar and waited at least 5 minutes, and I'm being generous with the time. It was probably more like 10 minutes. Now I'm aware that the food service industry is struggling post Covid. I'm very patient knowing this. However, when one of your bartenders looked right at me twice, didn't greet me, completely ignored me, and then proceeded to serve a couple seated right near me, there's no excuse for that. This is not a bogus review at all. I don't go out of my way to write reviews such as this. Goodluck with your business if that's how you treat...

What the hell was I served? Ordered steak tips med well ...mashed potatoes...mixed veggies. What I got...was charcoal briquettes...some pieces were to hard to cut....the mashed potatoes (?) Were also a mystery of what the heck did they put in them(?)...who CAN'T make mashed potatoes???🤷🏼‍♀️. Mixed veggies...we're some mushy frozen things also seasoned with that mashed potatoe stuff. My husband's turkey dinner(?) Again another mystery of ...what the heck is it? Why don't I just ask for the manager some of you might be thinking? Because I want to be able to give an honest review. So my loss is your gain...you're welcome 😊 My husband had eaten here only a couple weeks prior and loved it. This time he ordered the exact meal and was also sadly disappointed. So I know there's potential here and it probably was a different cook...either way...I stand by review.

Update: management or whomever monitors their online reviews just responded harshly...obviously they didnt take a look at my profile to see i have given many reviews to many restaurants locally and on travel. Where they got the Mc Donald's and Wendy's comment from is literally a 2 yo response. Which only further shows the lack of customer retention/service. I gladly would have preferred a Wendy meal after what I was served but couldn't eat the inedible. Maybe I should drop a value meal off to whoever responded.

The service was amazing! The drinks were too strong and ruined the flavor profile of the drink. The food was subpar Irish bar food.

Following the reply from the restaurant I feel as though I should elaborate on my initial review :

The tip was warranted because of the service that was received and had nothing to do with the food or drink that we ordered. It was not the servers fault that I didn't care for my food and she shouldn't have been punished for it through a lousy tip.

We ordered multiple appetizers (the clam chowder, buffalo wings, and the buffalo chicken dip) and two entrees (McSwiggans Burger and the Fish and Chips). The appetizers were fine, the wings were overcooked but we ate all of it. My husband liked the fish and chips, however, my burger was sloppy, burnt, and overcooked. I, of course, tried the burger before coming to my inevitable conclusion that I was not going to eat it.

P.S. I am sorry that you had a problem with my review, I had no knowledge of you being a new restaurant and wanted to give my honest opinion.
