Precinct 10 – From Winter Gem to Summer Ghost: A 20-Year Local’s Honest Plea
I’ve lived in Weymouth over 20 years. I’ve seen great spots rise and others vanish, but few had the potential that Precinct 10 did—especially in winter. The ambiance, food, drinks, music, staff—it had it. You’d walk in on a cold night and feel the buzz. That was P10 at its best.
And when it’s working, it’s not by chance—it’s because of people like Matt behind the bar. The guy runs that place like he owns it. He remembers names, orders, moods—makes new folks feel like regulars and regulars feel like family. That’s not a bartender. That’s a brand rep.
Then there’s Cassidy, a manager who carries herself like an owner. I met her recently and genuinely thought she was. She was on the floor, engaged with staff and guests, steering the vibe like a pro. She brings the presence and pride this place needs year-round.
And yet… here we are. Another summer. DJs spinning to half-empty rooms. Events gone quiet. Vibe? Dead by mid-April.
This is not a staff issue. This is an ownership issue.
You own four restaurants. Three are thriving. P10 isn’t. That’s not on managers. That’s on you. Ignoring summer programming has left the space to wither. Meanwhile, The Page, Middle Ground—even The 99—are buzzing. That’s not luck. That’s leadership.
Let’s be honest: silence doesn’t pay bills.
Your staff? Hustling. They care. But they can’t book live music or push weekly events without backing. Without a calendar, a budget, or direction, they’re stuck. And you’re letting a premium venue sit half-dead all summer.
Here’s how you fix it—starting now: Karaoke Night (Weekly) Brand it. Own it. Hire a host. Promote it. Karaoke brings groups, laughs, energy, and return traffic. Open Mic Night Make P10 a launchpad for South Shore talent. Poets, comics, musicians—they’re out there. Give them a stage. Host it right and you’ll fill seats with artists and their people. Programming Calendar Plan six months ahead: 80s night, Latin night, acoustic Fridays. Budget it. Market it. Run this like your other spots. Empower Cassidy and the Team Let frontline talent lead events. Give them budget and freedom. They know what clicks. Trust them.
⸻
Why this falls on ownership: • Managers operate within your limits. No karaoke, live acts, or events happen without approval. • P10 lacks summer identity. That’s not an accident. It’s because ownership hasn’t defined it. • Your other spots work. So why is this one drifting? • You’ve got the space, the team, the food, the drinks. The only missing piece is activation—and that’s your job.
You’re leaving money on the table and draining energy from a team that wants to do more. And worst of all, you’re letting what could be a South Shore flagship fade out.
People want to go out. They want to sing with friends, hear local artists, and walk into something exciting. P10 can be that place.
But only if ownership shows up, steps up, and invests in it again.
I’m writing this because I care. Because I want to keep coming back. Because I know what this place feels like when it’s alive—and I want that to last more than one season.
The staff’s ready. The locals are ready. Now we’re just waiting on you.

Read moreSeeing as I come here all the time I was rather shocked at the treatment I received last night. I went for a private function and my friends had brought their own cake and when it was nearing closing time they brought it out. Most of us were still on the dance floor so the cake had been sitting on the table for a while by the time we got back so I went to ask if they had proper utensils. Coming from a restaurant who does functions like this where WE accommodate our patrons who spend a good amout of money booking with us, and make sure all of their function needs are met... I received such an attitude from the older, short-haired bartender, who has treated me so kindly in the past (things like giving me an entire plate of oranges because she remembered after a few times that I like extra) so I really don't understand where the sudden shift in attitude came from the last few times I've seen her. Anyway, when I asked her if we could have the utensils to cut and eat the cake, this woman looked me straight in the face while pointing to where the silverware is kept and TOLD me to get it myself... as a fellow bartender, this is a BIG NO-NO. Then after I cut the cake I went back to ask her if they have cake servers to receive another huge attitude and I just walked away and figured out how to serve the cake myself with a fork and my hands. Then for whatever reason, she finally found the kindness in her heart to go find me a big spatula meant for serving larger food. By that time I had already put cake on most of the plates and didn't need it anymore and ran to her to give it back immediately. Then after all of this, they couldn't even give my friend a piece of foil she asked for to cover the rest of her cake to take home. That's REAL nice guys... I usually love this place but after the treatment I've received from that woman the last few times I've seen her was more than enough to make me not ever want to go again. I may come back for the DJ if she is not working, he's FRIKKIN...
Read moreWent here this past Sunday afternoon with my wife. She got the blackened chicken pasta and I had the chicken parm. We also ordered the Rhode Island calamari for an appetizer. Marissa was our server and she was fabulous - very helpful and attentive. She was actually the best part of our experience at Precinct 10 because the food was not that great. I will say that the bread that we got before our food arrived was very good - like a very light/fluffy focaccia bread (maybe I'm completely off base about this, but when the bread you serve in your restaurant is the best part of the meal, I think there are problems!). The calamari was very bland - no seasoning or flavor at all. The only thing that gave it any kick were the hot peppers that accompanied the dish. My wife thought her blackened chicken pasta was OK - lots of sauce and very little chicken. My chicken parm was the worst chicken parm I have ever had. The chicken was extremely thin - I would say the same thickness as the breading that it was fried in. Also, a good portion of the chicken was actually just breading and cheese - there was no chicken in at least half the portion of what was supposed to be chicken! So instead of getting a good chunk of breaded chicken that has been fried and topped with cheese and marinara sauce, I got a small portion of chicken and an equal portion of cheese and sauce that was presented in such a way as to make it look like the piece of chicken was huge. I'm not sure if this was done on purpose or what. I mean, did they think I wouldn't notice? In addition, the marinara sauce tasted burnt - just a bad flavor. I ate a couple bites of the chicken and had some pasta and that was it for me - didn't take the leftovers home - not worth it.
I had heard some good news about Precinct 10 but my opinion is that the food is not good at all. Well, the bread is good so at least you have that to look forward to if you go there! We will not be going back to...
