5/5/24 Sunday: fabulous cheese dogs, this time on fresh hamburger buns!! Great fries, peanuts and sweet tea, too!
4/20/23: Still great! They have hot dogs! Also have a veggie sandwich with hamburger vegs plus green peppers and grilled mushrooms.
1/26/23: Still great burgers, fries and very sweet tea which i dilute with unsweetened tea. Fast, polite service and slow food. Yum. A favorite.
8/3/22: The catsup dispenser is back!! No more slippery, messy catsup packets! The pre-covid Five Guys experience is fully back. Catsup, peanuts and even a tea dispenser (with sweet tea). Still great burgers any way you want and generous, hot french fries. Did I say they have sweet tea!
4/7/22: The peanuts are back!! There was a box of roasted, in-the-shell peanuts near the drink machines today. Great burger and fries as usual. Now if they'll just bring back the catsup dispensers and stop using those tiny packets.
2/6/22: Still a great burger and fabulous hot, salty, brown french fries. No more roasted peanuts in the shell and no more dispense-your-own ketchup. Now they give you packets of ketchup. They still have the fancy, modern ice and soft drink dispensers and new-to-me even have a tea machine that dispenses several flavors of iced tea including sweet southern and sweet green teas! Amazing! The little machine is just like the one at Yianni's Greek restaurant on Colfax...
Read moreI was stoked to find out there was finally a Five Guys on this side of town. Haven't had a Five Guy's burger in probably 8 years. Place was clean the staff put up kindly with my off handed jokes designed to make you slightly uncomfortable (I paid with a $50 so they did the marker test and after it passed I asked "Not bad for staying up all night with a bag of crayons and some hemp, right?") The food as you should expect was outstanding. Five guys prices are a little high but who's burgers don't cost an arm and a leg today? At least with Five Guy's you know damned good and well you're buying the best damn burger on the market. Word of caution if you're not familiar with their product. When they ask you what size fry you want one regular serving is enough for about 3 people. A large fry might have got Napoleon's entire army through the Russian winter. They're awesome, but their large size should be labeled a...
Read moreWorst Five Guys burger I’ve had in nearly 20 years of eating at this chain. Fries were undercooked and about half the size of the previous smallest portion I’d ever received from Five Guys. Bun was stale and somehow already cold and soggy, even though I ate in the restaurant about 45 seconds after they handed me the burger. Evidently they aren’t smashing the burgers anymore, and they stack the toppings in the middle like a Jason’s Deli sandwich. For the price, you can get a much better burger and support any of the local restaurants within a block or two of this location. Or you can go get a better, fresher burger at McDonald’s across the street for 75% less. If McDonald’s is beating you in quality, you need to sell the franchise. I’m sure the parent corporation will shut down this spot soon to protect the brand.
But if you like overpaying for small portions of cold, soggy, stale burgers and undercooked fries, this...
