Putting this up front: I Freaking Love Taco John's. In a world where Taco Bell is the king of fast food Mexican, and as much as I love Taco Bell, it's nice to have options that aren't Taco Bell. (that's the last time I'll reference Taco Bell).
The thing is, we don't have Taco John's in Louisville, so when I get Taco John's, you can be sure I'm going to get it.
I'd been by this location on numerous trips between Louisville and Brentwood, but the timing was never such that I could visit. This time I planned for it.
Located at the end of the Love's Travel Stop, I could tell Taco John's was relatively new when I walked in the door. It had a new, updated feel compared to the rest of Love's. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted with "HELLO, and welcome to Taco John's!". (A great way to start my visit.)
The first thing I noticed was how amazingly clean and bright this restaurant was. I've been in easily over a dozen locations and they all felt...lived in, so to speak. This place sparkles, it's so clean. Very white with red accent colours. There was actually someone on a ladder cleaning a wall when I walked in, it's that clean.
I love the menu options at Taco John's. The ̶t̶o̶t̶s̶ Potato Olés® are a nice touch that's not exactly fries but still, in a round about way, are fries, are different from just about any other fast food Mexican. The Taco Bravo is my favorite menu item, but to be honest I've never had anything that wasn't awesome.
It went like this: -Order food and pay. -Take drink cup to drink machine. -Fill drink cup with ice and Dr. Pepper®. -FOOD DELIVERY -Put lid on Dr. Pepper® -Eat food
Seriously, it was that fast.
The food was hot and accurate, the staff was great (they even joked around with me!), and the restaurant was amazingly clean.
Now that I've finally made it to this location I can't...
Read moreStopped in for some fried chicken tacos for dinner. An employee was coming in to start their shift, and the manager on duty (Tom) started screaming at her for being three minutes late, and where she parked at.
It is highly inappropriate for this to happen, especially infront of customers. The employee had not even had the chance to clock in before this started. Frankly I do not care what the employee had done, this reeks of management issues.
Ive been in several management positions, and i would have expected to have my ass handed to me by my superiors for acting that way even behind closed doors, much less infront of customers. God gorbid anyone finds out it happened before the employee even clocked in.
Definitely debating on returning and giving the employee my contact info incase she decides to file legal matters, because I will gladly state what I saw and heard.
At one point I had entertained the thought of working for this company, but not anymore.
Regardless of if there had been repeat issues, being late 3 minutes does not warrant the managers response. Definitely not management material. Is this really your best employee you can offer...
Read moreFood is OK, but not amazing. But I feel tricked. The lady asked me if I wanted medium or large for my combo. I picked medium because I was tired and forgot there was a small option until after I paid for and received my food. She did this to other customers, she was aggressively upselling every customer she rang up. "Do you want medium or large?" Asking like those are the only choices. I feel like she tricked me into upgrading when I really didn't want to, and wasn't hungry enough to want a larger size portion. Everyone in the restaurant had a medium size portion of potatoes oles and drink. She was also asking if we wanted a bunch of other things like desert.
Management probably thinks she is amazing for aggressively upselling things but the fact that I feel tricked spoiled the experience for me and I enjoyed my food a lot less because of it, and because I ended up with way more than I wanted. I came here to eat, not buy a car. Maybe that's what she did in...
