I actually believed these positive reviews, so I decided to try this place. What a mistake. The sign on the door stated they closed at 10, so did the website. I arrived at 9:15 for dinner, the guy at the door looked at me when I walked in and immediately looked at his watch and sighed, then reluctantly sat me at a booth. If you want to close up and go home at 10, maybe post something that states you will quit accepting paying customers for dinner at 9 pm so you can close up shop at 10 and go home? The service was terrible. We tried to be nice and we did respect the fact they were close to closing time. We ordered quickly because we knew they were all trying to rush us out. We should have left right then, but we were still hopeful about the food and reviews. The stuffed jalapeños were awful and tasted like they came out of a frozen box. Their “burrito” was an enchilada, not an actual burrito. It was drenched in a nasty soup like substance and had nothing in it, or with it. They forgot the sides. The taco we ordered, was ordered with cheese and avocado, they neglected to put those on. We asked for to go containers right away because they were continually being adamant about getting us out of there. The fajitas came without the sides and tortillas as well. I had to ask THREE times for tortillas to go with my fajitas. Then brought me 3 small ones with hard edges that tasted like they sat for hours before hand. We asked for two desserts to go, (we asked for cake, all they had to do was put it in a to go container, not bake it for us). They denied us dessert because they wanted to get out of there at 10. At this point, WE were trying to get out of there and escape this horrific experience. I’m not going to fail to mention the place was dirty, so was our booth and I saw bugs crawling on the floor and one on our table which I had to flick off. YUCK. I understand sometimes bugs can get in from outside, but come on, take care of that, don’t leave them in your establishment to run all over the place.
The entire staff was rude, the food was terrible, and their so called customer service is some of the worst I’ve ever encountered. I was hoping this place was going to be great, but I’ll never return to this establishment again after the complete disrespect for paying customers wanting to support our local businesses. I’m going to post this review and tell everyone I know about the awful service, food and complete disrespect for paying customers at this location. If you don’t want to serve customers after a certain time, your best bet would be to let us know your kitchen closes at 9 and you’re open until 10 for customers who are finishing up their dinner, not that your KITCHEN closes at 10 and will reluctantly and disrespectfully serve your paying customers after 9 pm so you can close and go home at 10. I’ve worked and managed restaurants, what you’ve done isn’t sound business practice at all. Customer service is a dying art. It’s not hard to learn and put to use. It’s sad and very disappointing that this situation even happens at all and has become the “norm” in a lot of places these days. Don’t be in a service business if you’re not going to take care of the ones who wanted to support you and help you succeed in your...
Read moreThe food is OK. Just that. OK. Nothing extra or to write home about. But these are the most arrogant people I have dealt with at a restaurant in a long time. The fat manager is an arrogant jerk and the skinny black hair girl that works the register is just as arrogant. They work the younger male staff to death, and they are obviously hustling for tips. They refuse to hire anyone that is not Mexican - can you say discrimination? I can! I just hate to dine in there because it makes me angry and when I pay my money I want to have a pleasant dining experience. I don't know who the owners are, but either they foster this type of attitude or they are this type of individual. Myself and my wife have eaten better food, prepared at the homes of the poor and middle class of Mexico (different than our own), and been much better treated in places where there are no commode seats, the kitchen prep area is outside among the iguanas, and the family dresses their little granddaughter in her best dress and little cowboy boots to meet us. And no, this was not on the tourist tract. It was far off the beaten path. Los Agaves is a joke. ¡ el servicio es un pedazo de mierda!
Yay just got our food back home. The little fat manager isn't "available" and when I complained I was told I could do whatever I wanted to do. I have never been so disrespected. But guess what, INS gonna be by there ina few days to check these boys and girls out. Get the bus, boys, you are going home! Asta Las Tacos Hombres!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT EAT HERE YOU WILL...
Read moreWe visited this place as a pit stop for our road trip.. How this place is above 4 stars is unbelievable. Clearly, there isn't many Mexican places around here.. Beans and rice...bland. Chicken taco...boring. Steak burrito? Only good item we tried. Mexican food is full of flavors and spice, and the food had little of either. Additionally, Margaritas seemed to be a mix and not freshly made. So, if you are craving authentic, high quality Mexican food, keep on driving and find somewhere else because this place doesn't have what you're looking for.
Next, the service was terrible. It wasn't busy, people were standing at front, we asked for high chair, which was never brought. I eventually got it myself. I ordered a coke that came out flat...no problem, but my food was brought by a food runner and I never saw my server until I finished my meal. He never checked in on us during dinner so I couldn't get a fresh coke. Finally, check was brought and it says pay at table. After waiting, we eventually got up and paid up front.
Service may have had an off day, but the food quality is far from authentic and is bland as can be. In fact, we went to McD across the street after our visit. I am still mind boggled on how this could have this many positive reviews...I feel bad that this place is considered some of the people's "best" Mexican food. If this is, you need to go try more...
