Finally Columbus gets the best Ethiopian restaurant, I can count on. Most importantly which doesnât disappoint either! Up on entering the atmosphere is so beautiful the name said it all, it is Mini it is. This place is small if you bringing large group I recommend call ahead. Clean atmosphere and decor complements it all. We had Tre Kitfo and we finished it up with beef Leb Leb which came on a flat spongy bread known as injera, it was amazing. Everything was perfectly spiced and the portions size were generous. This my third time returning within two weeks anytime I walked in they will make me feel welcome. Iâve been in too many Ethiopian restaurants this is among the best.
If you are living in or visiting Columbus this place is a must if you are a true foodie. You wonât be disappointed!
I am back with another review! Now Mini is owned by different owners. The food is amazingly tasty and fresh, I usually don't eat leftover but I ate my left over this time, it was as fresh as the day I got it. The atmosphere is clean and beautifully decorated. Mini was our spot for lunch with my bestie yesterday we had Eth style coffee tibs ( stir fry beef w/ onion & tomato) and Kitfo (beef tartar) umm umm umm the yummiest food & the best experience ever. We had two beautiful servers (maybe Owners) they are so sweet and making us feel welcomed, the service is top notch in Columbus. They took care of us how you want to be taking care of when you get out to eat. We can't wait to be back all I can say is Thank you and...
Read moreI was visiting on business from Oklahoma and was looking for restaurants in my area. This restaurant popped up in my search and I decided to try Ethiopian food for the first time. I was not disappointed!! If you're in the Columbus/Whitehall area of Ohio I highly recommend this place!! The owner and his family were very polite, warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious! I wish there was an Ethiopian place in Oklahoma! Definitely will come again if I'm in the area!
The smell of the aromatic spices when I walked in was amazing, and the owner immediately greeted me and made me feel welcome! He was very patient and explained the menu for me, and made a fantastic suggestion for me! He also explained how the food should be eaten in Ethiopian culture and to eat with your hands, but when he brought out my meal he also brought me silverware which I thought was extremely kind and thoughtful.
I had, if I remember the name correctly, Lamb Kofta and it came with Ethiopian kind of flat bread called injera. The kofta which was a kind of stew or soup like curry was the right amount of spicy, savory and light tanginess that complimented the injera very well. The flat bread had the texture of almost like a pancake and you use it to soak up the kofta. I did eat with my hands which doesn't bother me at all, but if you're a little squeamish to do so like I said the owner is extremely kind and will understand if you need to use silverware. The food was delicious and a great first experience into...
Read moreI was in town for a business trip and found this place while looking for somewhere to have lunch. Really awesome little family-run restaurant. The owners are super friendly and hospitable and they make you feel very welcome. I ate there twice in the same week, that's how good it is.
The coffee is like nothing I've experienced before. The beans are roasted and ground in-house so it still has its natural sweetness when you drink it (I didn't even know coffee was naturally sweet). I highly recommend doing the coffee ceremony if you have two or more people. They bring the coffee out in a traditional clay pot with some incense burning. Some people don't like the smoke (and they'll take it away if that's you) but I think it smells great and adds to the experience.
The atmosphere is very nice. They have relaxing music playing that makes you want to take a nap when you're done eating. The portions are generous and the food is delicious. For the first visit I had the kitfo, the second visit we had the veggie combination and lamb tibs (I came back with family). I can whole-heartedly recommend all of those dishes, though the kitfo is a bit greasy which some people may not like. The injera bread is spot-on, very spongy with a nice lemony taste to it.
All in all, I loved the experience, the food and the atmosphere created by these amazing people. If I'm ever back in Columbus I'll definitely come...
