This is hard to review. I was really excited about trying this place out. It was my first time being there, and I ordered a Shack Burger and some perogies that guy offered to make on the grill with onions, which I thought was nice. They don't have a sit-down area for takeout, so I told them I would wait in their eating area. I waited an hour for my food to be done, in which time the owner came out a few times, the waitress Seated a group of 3 guys who ordered and ate all their food, another group was seated, and one of the employees went in and out of the bathroom several times while cleaning it all in the time I was sitting in there at an empty table waiting for my food to be done.
After waiting an hour, I went up to the counter to ask how long it would be until my food was done. The girl was confused and went into the back to ask about it . There was a bag on a cart, and she was like, "Is this the food?" He said it was like he couldn't be bothered. I tried to ask how long it had been ready? She seemed confused, handed me the bag, and asked if I had paid? Which I did prior and gave a 20% tip on takeout, which I may have to reconsider doing in the future on trying places for the first time.
The food:
It was barely warm it was, I'm guessing, done in the first 10 minutes I was waiting. The perogies were good. The fries were dry and starchy, but that could be due to they were cold, but it looked like they would've been good fresh, thick cut. I got the shack burger it wasn't too bad. It wasn't stuffed, and it didn't need the extra french fries on top.
It's a good small venue with lots of options to choose from
I'm not sure if I would try this place again. It's hard to say with the poor...
Read moreSo this is the easiest 5 star review I have ever given. I have no clue why I never thought to do a review of this place when I lived in the area (2014-2020). I have thought about this place quite a few times since we have left the area almost 2 years ago. So this place is a great burger place that is family owned by the nicest people. When we had visitors from out of town this is where we took them every time. They have a great menu that is constantly seeing additions and new unique burger ideas! I follow them on Facebook so I get a burger of the month which is always fun, but now just makes me hungry because I cannot go anymore! When I went I would often get the Cabana burger, but the burger that caught my attention was a monthly burger that is not a regular on the menu so you have to catch it when it comes around, is the 'Shack Attack' burger. So good. I will make sure to go here when I visit the area. The meat is so good and is even better when stuffed. The vegetables are fresh and like I said it is great to support a family business. Additionally they have great vegetarian and vegan options. I would and do recommend this place...
Read moreThis place I tried as it got pretty good reviews. Would say that the staff is friendly and pretty good service.
The burgers themselves are decently seasoned - toppings are fresh and buns themselves are pretty good. I got their burger of the month special which was the French onion. I liked the crispy onions and carmelized onions on top. What I didn't like was the patty itself - they specialize in stuffed burger patties. The cheese was nice and gooey however the patty was pretty dry - and it had the same taste of ground beef that I would make at home.
I ordered medium well but it came well done. I wasn't too pleased with this as the first bite was good but after that it was just very, very dry.
If you come here I would not order anything below medium. I am pretty sure medium would mean medium well here and medium well means overcooked. If they fix this issue then their patties would be juicy and much tastier.
Also for some reason it feels like they use a very lean cut of meat in their patties - there's virtually no fat content which is why it's just...
