SMP Mini Mart — Local services in Whitehall

SMP mini mart is a place I’ve been going for about a year now and I have tried quite a few things on the menu. I first went to try their cheesesteak a year plus ago and it was very good, but they are consistently trying to up their game here so the cheesesteak now is so much better than it even was then. They have added the seeded corropolese roll (which I love), they carry cooper sharp which is my favorite cheese for a cheesesteak, and they use a quality ribeye product.

The owners Chade and Nancy are also extremely nice and helpful people. At least one of them is in the store nearly always showing their dedication and love for this place. Every time I go here I leave feeling like family. They have also been consistently upgrading the interior of the spot recently adding a full hood system to put in a large flattop grill and fryers. They have some limited seating and they offer a wide array of drinks and other snack options. I mean, you can even play your lotto while you’re here haha

SMP Minimart is a spot my buddy has been raving about, insisting I was missing out on the best cheesesteaks around. I’ve never been a big fan of cheesesteaks, so I was hesitant, but after enough convincing, I finally gave in and met him there on a Tuesday.

Walking in, the place has the feel of a typical minimart—lotto machines, a couple of tables, aisles stocked with snacks, and a small kitchen tucked in the back. It’s unassuming, nothing flashy. At the register, I was greeted by a friendly cashier who patiently explained that I needed to grab my chips and drink before she could ring me up, but she’d go ahead and put in my order.

Following my friend’s lead, I went with a 12-inch cheesesteak with sautéed onions and Cooper cheese. The wait was short—just a few minutes—and when I got my meal, I quickly realized I had been missing out. If I’ve ever had a cheesesteak before, it sure didn’t compare to this. The sandwich was hefty, packed with a generous portion of steak, melted Cooper cheese, and onions, all held together by a fresh, crispy roll. Every bite was phenomenal.

For anyone who loves cheesesteaks—or just great food in general—SMP Minimart is absolutely worth...

Hands down best cheesesteak in Lehigh Valley! We've been missing that true "philly" taste since moving here and now we've found it. We got the SMP Cheesesteak, Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak wrap and the Boom Boom egg rolls and all of it was amazing. Cheesesteaks used a good roll, amoroso or equivalent and the meat was high quality with amazing flavor. Their combination of wiz and cooper cheese compliments and give a fantastic flavor and the onions are grilled perfectly. Their Buffalo sauce was on point, just the right combination of flavor to spice and the chicken was not dry (hard to find these days). The egg rolls were such a burst of flavor with just the right amount of spice. As for the service, you couldn't ask for better customer service! Had a few special requests for our youngest and they were more than accommodating and overall pleasant to talk to. The owner personally engaged with us and is very involved with his business and customers. The true definition of the "mom & pop" feel we've grown to miss. Great people, great food!
