Are you people kidding!?? Having moved away for a few years and now back in the area, I thought I'd pick up some seafood for a quick dinner. I had been a regular customer when this Blue Bell location first opened. What a disappointment! Several of the selections were no longer available and although I expected the prices might have gone up, the reduced portion size was an eye opener. I couldn't help asking exactly how much did the Smith Island crab cakes weight. They had been 4 ounces. New size...just a fraction over 3 ounces, about the size of an Oreo cookie! I got the "stuffed shrimp" instead, expecting it to be a very large shrimp, split down the middle and stuffed with a filling that contained crab. At $6.19 each, Bad idea. What I got was a very large lump of mushy breading (not a trace of crab) with a shrimp too small to split down the middle. No point in continuing about the rest of my order. I am angry that the over-priced food was also inedible. We had to go out for hoagies for dinner. This place is using the good reviews of long ago to take advantage of customers. Dosen't anyone know what good crab cakes taste like. Try Wegman"s or make...
Read moreThere are occasions which I crave Crab Cakes. Of course, I'm usually not in a restaurant that serves (good) crab cakes when said cravings hit. In those times, I've hit up Capt'n Chucky's for a few which are super easy to cook at home. They have a few different options when it comes to filling and spicy level. I think I like the ones with the old bay incorporated the best.
Prices are in line with the portion and quality. Besides filling my random cravings, we also get a handful of crab cakes for dinner parties or game nights. For those nights, we usually split them in half and serve as a tasty appetizer.
I'll round out by saying I believe they do have more than just crab cakes. Things like lobster rolls and such. I will happily update this review once I give those items a try. ...
Read moreFirst impression- Staff and owner was friendly and there is plenty to choose from in the store. I bought a Buffalo Shrimp wrap that was pre-made in the little fridge in front of the register. Once back at work- the shrimp were frozen, the lettuce were brown, wilted and frozed and the wrap itself was soggy. When I picked it up it completely fell apart. So why 4 stars you ask, here is why. The staff as i previously stated were extremely nice, patient and informative. I would def come back again. I am a believer that everything cannot be perfect ALL the t ime. My lunch was 5 bucks and it wasnt the end of the world. I didnt call them to complain or anything, i just know the next time i patronize, I will be more attentive when...
