If you get anything from here, make sure it's at least these 2 things: Thai fortune bags (appetizer) with plum dipping sauce and pineapple fried rice with chicken (entree). They are both absolutely amazing. The pineapple fried rice meal is better than any others I've had around the area due to the heavy smoke flavor which gives the food a wonderful rich taste where other places tend to be bland or too sweet. The portions are also a very hearty size with enough to save for another day. For dessert, I'd recommend the mango & sticky rice (if in season) as it has a sweetness and creaminess that you won't find in non-Thai dishes. Prices are very reasonable, service is typically spot on, and it's BYOB. What more could you want?

One of Thai food lover, the taste of Thai Orchid is disappointing. This evening I went the restaurant. Three of us ordered Drunken noodle with beef, Pad Thai noodle, Basil Fires rice, Jasmin Rice soup, Ravioli soup, House salad, Thai dumplings, and coffee. First of all, all of the food didn't have Thai food's authenticity and flavor. I love Thai cuisine's authentic spice and flavor, but I couldn't enjoy any of them this evening. Secondly, the presentation of the food was not attractive either. Even the temperature of the food was not right. However, its interior decorations and staffs were nice.

Late afternoon lunch turned to early dinner. We were early by the host let us sit until they are open for business. They decor is beautiful and authentic Thai themed. The table setup is perfect. Everywhere you look is clean. The host Lena was so hospitable she gave us complimentary iced Thai coffee while waiting for our order. Appetizers was shrimp soup and fried meat dumplings. My wife ordered the chefs special of duck and I wanted Pad Thai. The servings are plentiful for one. Menu prices are moderate high. Definitely will come again. I would recommend highly for the experience.

We arrived at 720, a server finally came to take our order about 15 mins later. Service was terrible, our main dishes were served individually, about 2 minutes apart, which meant the last person in our party of 4 was served about 10 minutes later. When the other waitress had brought our meal, she announced that the kitchen closed in 10 minutes and we needed to order dessert immediately if we wanted it. Just to be safe, we placed a dessert order (green tea lava cake)....I said to the waitress "can you please wait until we are finished eating the dinner though, before you bring out the dessert" My mother and sister in law (ordered drunken noodles and Thai basil) said the flavor was very bad and they did not eat their meals...the waitress and server did not ask why, as a matter of fact no one came to check on us at all. As soon as they cleared the table, our dessert was brought immediately..there was nothing lava about the green tea lava cake. However, we couldn't even take two bites before the original server came over to us and said the kitchen closed 15 minutes ago (it wasn't even 830). The waitress brought our check and we paid and left a tip. And now, my Friends, this is where the truly bizzarre begins. The server (they/them) aggressively tells us to leave, that I had an "altercation" with THEIR coworker. THEY proceed to gaslight me , saying that I yelled at the waitress to not bring our desserts. This server then yells at us saying we need to leave immediately, that the restaurant is closed and THEY are going to call the police. Bear in mind we were just served our dessert and hadn't eaten it yet. I then ask them if I can speak to a manager (no) and if they are the owner (no). Finally, from their cellphone, they call someone named Katie, who says she is the manager. I ask the server If I can speak with her and they said no, don't you dare touch my phone with your germs...and put Katie on speaker. I try to explain the situation but the server doesn't let me get a word in edgewise, and Katie says that we can stay another 15 minutes, before hanging up. She never apologized for the servers outrageous behavior. For the next 15 minutes, this server stood in front of our table watching us with Their arms crossed..and making rude comments the entire time. I didn't realize that we had paid for dinner and a theatre. It was at this point when I asked for our check back, and that we wanted to change the tip. The server then tells me that we are on camera and they are watching us and recording our every move. When I went to take a photo of this, THEY told me that I was forbidden to take a photo but they were recording everything on their surveillance camera for the police. I asked if there was a sign anywhere in the restaurant indicating the presence of such cameras, stating that we are being recorded, and they said no. I'm not sure of the legality of this, but from the little reading I did, restaurants need to post a sign to record their customers. I don't need to tell you that our final 10 minutes at this restaurant were the most awkward I've ever experienced at any dining establishment in the entire world (I'm very well travelled and have also spent a significant amount of time in Thailand, including 2 months of volunteer work) and the food we were served was a far cry from real Thai food. Our 10 minutes were over, and as we stood up to leave, the server tells me I better not be driving (I wasn't) as it's illegal to drink and drive and they are calling the police now. Server follows us to the door and as I exit, I hear THEM say something. I turn around and open the door to ask what they said, and they said "I'm not talking to you, now leave and mind your own business" , slamming the door in my face...and then I realized that THEY had called Katie to tell her we left. I get in my mom's car, we pull out to leave, and no sooner do I see the server exit the restaurant , running to our car waving their arms ,and following us half way to giant...

I would like to address the response made by the staff of Thai Orchid. I take offense to you insinuating that I have an issue with race. My parents were immigrants to this country and I hold that dear to my heart. My party was not inebriated and unless there was testing done you have no right to assume that. Furthermore, no where inside or out is there any indication or signage saying there is a camera. I believe by law that needs to be posted. Perhaps if you had cameras outside of the restaurant you would actually see how your employee followed my car waving good bye as we were only remaining in the car until the heat came on to warm up. Clearly, you have misconceptions as to what exactly happened but the result remains the same. Unsatisfied customers and the way I was raised and I was in the food business, the customer is always right!

Original Post: I had dinner Dec. 13th, 2023 with my family at my used to be favorite Thai restaurant, however, when I noticed the chefs that were leaving were not Thai I feel it had undergone new owners/management. The food was not up to the standards that it used to be and the servers were extremely rude by telling us to leave as the kitchen closed 15 minutes prior to us even finishing our dinner around 8:15 and hadn't been given our dessert. My daughter-in-law and I couldn't even eat our food. Our server (they/them) was arguing aggressively asking us to leave and demanding we do so immediately. I was appalled when they/them phoned the police and followed us out the door into the parking lot as they/them waved good bye. Unfortunately I cannot give them a minus all stars because it was the most awful dining experience in my...

Yum bomb!

Wasn't expecting a decent Thai place out here in suburbia, but this place proved me wrong!

It's located in a plaza complex, right off of Dekalb Pike - easy to find and plenty of parking available.

My guest and I walked in a little after 5PM so there wasn't any other patrons besides us (they must've just opened for their dinner service.) The hostess greeted us right away and allowed us to choose a seat wherever we preferred since we had the place to ourselves. We chose a spot with ample natural lighting. The decor is pretty dark in there, and since the sun was still out, the indoor lighting was on dim. It didn't bother us too much, but I think if it were a cloudier day, it may have been pretty dark inside.

We ordered the baked tofu and the drunken noodles to share. Being the only ones in the restaurant, it was nice not to see food come out and be disappointed that it was for a different party haha! Our food was served quick, hot, and tasty!

I prefer tofu firm and well seasoned, and this place definitely served it up. The drunken noodle dish was an ample portion for two people and it had notes of spicy and sweet all in one bite.

I enjoyed the experience of dining here. The waitress was attentive and filled our water glasses plenty of times as we dined. We also asked for hot sauce to accompany the peanut sauce for the tofu, and it was brought out quickly for us to enjoy.

If I find myself back in this part - I would definitely venture back to try their other dishes, especially...
