I had a few pictures of this place but my phone decided to go swimming with me and I haven't recovered them yet. I'll start by saying I loved the atmosphere here. It's just like you'd picture in a bar/grill environment and where we sat wasn't incredibly loud so we could still enjoy each other's company and have a conversation. My lady and I split an appetizer of fried pickles and they were breaded and seasoned with just the right amount of zest. They were very good and hit the spot for anyone getting hangry. I chose to order the "Kraken Burger" which in essence is a cheeseburger where the patty is crusted in cracked black pepper. Again, my legs are very white but this didn't have a bite that scared me off. When the burger first came out I believe my exact words were "Holy hell!" because the burger was anywhere from 8-10" tall. After I smashed it down to an edible size and took a bite, the pepper bit me but it was merely a love bite and made it all very worth it. I did NOT finish this burger because I was stuffed between fried pickles and the sheer size of this sucker. I would very much like to go back and have some draft beers as there was a good selection of those as well. The topping off of the trip was I was gutsy enough to ask if they would sell a license plate that was attached to the hostess stand, as it was the year my dad was born. Long story short is I walked out with and was a very happy customer. The staff was friendly and fun and the atmosphere is great for a night out (or a lunch)! Thanks again! I look forward to...
Read moreOrdered the Gringo hamburger and fries. The bun came out wet after I specifically asked for a dry bun with no butter on it. They said thats how they come. The Earl of Sandwich invented a sandwich by putting meat between two pieces of bread so his hands wouldn't get wet. The point of a bread bun on a hamburger is to do the same. I don't want butter all over my hands after eating. I ate part of half of it with a fork and knife which kinda defeats the purpose of a hamburger. I picked through it and it wasn't very tasty, I left most of the bread. The meat wasn't bad. The other half I took home with me. The french fries I would not order again. If I wanted McDonalds fries I would have gone to McDonalds, in fact I think McDonalds could do better on their premium burgers and the fries. The fries were not fresh, it was like they had been under a heat lamp for an hour. I know Carl's Junior does better on their food. Upside is my kid enjoyed the fries so I let him have them. Kids like McDonalds. I have eaten there in the past and I don't recall the experience being this bad. Service was slow, we spent 20 minutes before they took our order as well. Overall I would give 2 stars out of 5. Not great and we will...
Read moreWhen my wife and I arrived on a Sunday evening, they were hosting a huge party with a table that ran the entire length of the restaurant, so we were probably just a "nuisance" to them. We were ushered into a corner booth behind a partition wall and there we sat for about 15 minutes before I finally went to the bar to order drinks and ask about service for our table.
We made the mistake of NOT ordering burgers (which is probably the only thing they know how to make here). We ordered fried pickles, my wife ordered a grilled chicken salad and I wanted to try their Oki Reuben. The fried pickles were incredibly oversalted and completely inedible, as was the Reuben so we talked to the manager and asked to take those items off our bill. We shared the salad, I had a beer (a Manhattan Project which was advertised as 16oz but came in an 8oz goblet for $8.00 :-o) and my wife had an iced tea ($6.00 :-O). So, with the salad and tip the bill came to about $35.00
Worst. Experience. Ever. That said, it was probably our fault for going off-menu. Maybe the burgers are a better bet, but I don't think we'll take...
