Merle's Place — Restaurant in Wichita

Heard this was the best Reuben in town so we had to try it! The atmosphere was very casual. Even though it felt like a neighborhood bar and grill with lots of regulars, we were welcomed heartily, even with an active toddler in tow! It was dark in the restaurant, but it was clean and inviting. The gentleman taking orders, delivering food and checking us out seemed super busy but was impressively efficient and even took time to chat! The food was prepared pretty quickly and did NOT disappoint. The Reuben was delightful, as was the French dip, chicken salad sandwich and Streamliner. Sandwich was good but my kids had to act up nothing like getting off work to wanna go back would have had a drink but no strawberry daiquiri . So beer makes me sick so only had tea. Since I won't drink coke and allergic to lemonade and sprite... yes anymore im hard to please sorry too many allergies I know... potatoes salad was good and Sandwich #13 and the 2 bites I had of sons enchilada . And the child who never eats ate for once....glad for that...food was great. Kids thought they couldn't go in a bar it was a bit funny... good dinner minus kids outburts...which I handled. Trying to get them to mind in public is aging me alot... love em but it's hard they still getting used to me working part time ....

Whoa. I thought it would be a cool dive for 2 tourists from Texas to chill in... boy was I wrong. Our bartendress' rude attitude turned us off pretty quickly. My drink tasted disgusting (forget the fact that she grabbed the olives with her bare fingers) & she never offered a menu, so who knows how the food tastes? It was funny to watch her cheerful disposition towards every individual who walked thru the door. Sure hope it wasn't my color. Wrong color, wrong bar.
