I wanted to start out by saying the staff was very kind, polite, and knew their stuff. That enhanced our experience here! We ordered togo plates, I had half oriole sandwich and half of blue Jay salad. Unbelievable. So delicious. The salad is hands down best salad I've ever had, I didn't add or take anything from it. That is ART. The sandwich was delicious, I only take some away from it because it was incredibly messy. Eating it at home was a safe place to devour it but not sure how I'd fair in public lol. For ordering both half portions, I was very pleased with the amount of food. I paid 16$ for that mashup in total. My partner ordered the American kestrel. It did not come with a side for 13.50 so that was a little disappointing, we assumed it would come with fries or something but just wanted to be clear- when you order something it's all a la carte.- so keep that in mind! He said the sandwich was amazing! He would prefer it to be seasoned. I tried it and agree, this place has quality like nobodies business. However, the food is not seasoned. We got two appetizers one was the burrata, the other was smoked artichoke dip. When I tell you the artichoke dip was out of this freaking world. I could eat that daily lol. It was a huge win here I highly recommend it, they are making home made focaccia bread here and it's PHENOMENAL. With the burrata we got the focaccia and a very bland mozzarella type cheese but it wasn't mozzarella I am not remembering what the name was sorry. Then a relish of sorts, it had purple onions and whole garlic cloves and tomatoes and peppers all marinating in this balsamic vinegar juice. The flavor was so unique and quite delectable- my partner said he enjoyed the experience but wouldn't order something like this regularly. I absolutely enjoyed this and have thought of many things I would put that relish on. I salted the cheese. I would order this again but I think we agree that we would much rather eat it in the restaurant. I think the experience would be better and we could see how it is put together by them if there is a difference there. Overall I would rate this place over 5 stars if I could- not to mention when we walked in the eating area extends to wide open doors and an outside eating area. You can truly pick a perfect spot it seemed. The layout was unique and fun. The way they packed the food in was neat and tidy. Clean, no spills, all cardboard boxes, good quality. It was put neatly into a brown paper bag with handles and no, it didn't break! Utensils included. I am excited to come back and try other foods. We spent about $57 total. Two appetizers, one sandwich, a half salad and a half sandwich. *The pictures were last minute while eating just to show quality not quantity This place is underrated,...
Read moreDavid greeted us, very personable young man, better hang on to him. Lexi was our server, she too was amazing best keep her too 😉 folks will be trying to steal them away. This being our 1st visit , Lexi was great, answered all our questions & was on the ball making sure we had everything we needed. Ordered California sandwich & mom the Roadrunner salad. Been living on the west coast & noticed this place had the feel of the restaurants there, nice set up with outdoor seating, clean & wasn't noisy even though they were getting quite busy.. I'm kind of surprised they didn't open this in let's say the Normandy square area. It's pretty close to George's French Bistro. Upon seeing the menu options we almost left as we prefer more of a (bland) chicken sandwich without hot or spicy flavors. I don't eat beef so I'm usually left with just a couple of options. Was craving chicken but decided against it thinking it was spicy & opted for the California turkey, to my surprise it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Also ordered the potato salad, was a nope for me didn't care for it. Mom had the Roadrunner salad with a lemon honey dressing, was crisp & fresh, dressing was light, different good flavor, nice portions as well. Would order it & the sandwich again in a heartbeat. If I was a beef eater I'd definitely try their burgers because they looked amazing, everyone's food around the room looked amazing. I would maybe suggest making that California Quail with an option to be made with grilled chicken. I have a feeling it would be one of their best sellers. Had a very nice lunch, will visit again one day. I have a feeling this place will be around for...
Read morePeople have been glazing this place for some good reasons. Vibe is fun and food is very well cooked and fresh. Inside is always a fun vibe. Staff is super friendly. Falls short for me, unfortunately.
Biggest downside: heavily underseasoned food. Imagine biting into a crispy chicken or potato and being greeted with just flavorless breading and unseasoned chicken. Same with their burger patties having a gorgeous sear and then no bite or flavor to them. Would be fine if I wasn't paying $15+ for a sandwich/burger. I can get one full of flavor for less than half the price at Culvers or Freddy's. Been here a few separate times thinking it was just a one off thing, but seems a theme of executing the cook and failing in providing rounded and robust flavor, especially for the price. Putting down a thin layer of sauce and/or pepper flakes after the cook doesn't cut through especially when a lot of residual grease is there. Would love to see them incorporate seasoning in their meats or batter before the cook. I ain't asking for a ton of salt but something to bring out the flavor of some obviously experienced cooks given their actual ingredients and technique are quality.
Haven't tried their drinks, for what it's worth. Maybe that ends up being a counterbalance to the food. Not sure I'll give another try soon given my personal cost vs flavor profile, but glad I went to...
