This will mark the very first unfavorable review I have ever left on here. Were it not going to end in a painful surgery, I'd let it go - but, that is not the case. The burgers are just fine and the service is whatever if you don't mind waiting nearly an hour for your food (I've seen this complaint registered often, online, for this place) but, their attention to detail and actual investment in the customer's satisfaction is so lacking, that I'd suggest eating anywhere BUT here if you love yourself. The burgers are, indeed, huge and tasty but I can come up with six places off the top of my head that I would recommend before this one. Wichita has got it's cheeseburger game ON point, so it's not like there's a shortage. If you want to hear the conversation at your table, during the painfully long wait time before your food arrives, you might want to invest in a hearing aid. It's one of those places that is so loud and ringing, I really never hear what anybody is talking about (I've tried it three times) so I'm relegated to smiling and nodding a lot. I've even overlooked the long hair that was packed into my meal, one time. HOWever, the last visit I made there was the same week that I'd had a rough little surgery, so I already wasn't at my best. When I had to scurry into the bathroom, before we left, to throw up - THAT is where things went south with a quickness. I was rushing so as to avoid a messier situation than I was already packed for, and when I put my hands on the toilet seat and bent over to barf, the seat (with all my 120 pounds) flew off the toilet and I hit my head on the rim while my chin took a dip in the decidely filthy toilet. The seat flew off the toilet and I crashed to the floor, slamming my back and hip hard. I screamed and waited for anybody to come help me up, but nobody was nearby to hear and I'm fairly sure THAT activity is way above anybody's pay grade. When I recovered, I limped to the cashier and told her that the toilet was broken and she giggled like a school girl and said, "Oh yea! I noticed that!" I told her what had happened and she giggled more and nodded, so I assumed she couldn't hear me just like I couldn't hear anybody ever when I ate there. I wrote them, via FB messenger and an email, and received no replies. I meet with the surgeon next week for ruptured discs and a hairline fracture in my hip. SOoooo, seriously: DO NOT give these people your money. You know who DOES rock AND provides exceptional customer service in an environment where you can hear conversations? The following in no particular order: Dempsey's (killer vibe, awesome burgers AND a raft of bacon that will curl your hair with goodness) or TY's (classic Wichita goodness with all the love and affection AND killer burgers) or Walt's (three locations I think and they ALL rock) or Nuway (crumbly goodness that I've enjoyed since I was a kid) or Sports Burger (drive through but awesome goodness for a park picnic) or or or... So many good cheeseburgers and so little...
Read moreWe went a little before one on a Saturday afternoon. There were quite a few of us and we expected a wait. After 15 or so minutes we got a table and went to stand by it. After another 15 or so minutes we gave up on anyone coming to clean it off, so we cleaned it off piling the trash and dishes on another dirty table. After another 10 or so minutes we went and found someone to wipe it off. We finally sat down. The waitress came and took our drink order and it took quite some time for her to bring them out to us. She took our order. We waited over an hour. I finally went in search of our waitress, H (That's all that was on the ticket) and when I told her we had been there for 1 1/2 hours, was there a problem with our food? She told me it was coming. I sat down. Another 10 or so minutes and here she comes. Would you believe she told me I should not have yelled at her, she did not cook the food and I had no right and I had scared her. !!!????? I had in no way yelled at her, I was maybe a llittle testy, we had waited over an hour for a hamburger, but I in no way yelled at her,, and I sure did nothing to scare her. Then she proceeded to argue with us about how long we had been there. Telling us we were wrong and she had no control over when our food came out. Did she expect us to go into the kitchen and question the kitchen staff???? Isn't that her job????? We finally just told her to just be quiet and give us our food. She kept arguing. Another waitress finally came over and started to hand out our food. If we do go back, and I'm not sure I ever will, I will never again allow her to be my waitress. The food just isn't good enough to put up with service like that. And our out of town guests were...
Read more1st time I have been to TJ's Burger House. Environment is nostalgic old-fashioned decor. Menus have a good variety of items and are responsibly priced.
This is a busy family-friendly establishment. We had a large group of family members from various locations around Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Earlier, we celebrated the life of a dear family member.
The staff at TJ's welcomed us all, and they made us feel right at home. Our server she was good, and she kept with everyone's orders as well as kept our glasses filled with whatever each person was drinking.
As far as I am aware, no one expressed any complaints because everyone received their specific order in a quick and timely manner.
The men's room soap dispenser needed a little tinder loving care. Apparently, it leaks and leaves a puddle on the floor up against the wall to the left of the toilet next to the sink. Otherwise, everything where else in the building appeared to be in good clean working order.
This restaurant has plenty of parking in the rear of the building. From this parking area you don't have to worry about it being ADA complaint. It's very easy to enter from the rear parking area. If you park in a parking spot in front of the building, the only wheelchair ramps are at the corners of the street at the intersections. And all along the front of the building, there are no handicap parking places.
I will most likely visit TJ'S again in the future. Initially, we were informed that my deceased cousin loved eating at TJ'S, so that is why we all gathered...
