Music Theatre Wichita — Attraction in Wichita

I cannot get enough of Music Theatre of Wichita! It is a treasure to the community! Every summer my husband and I try to take in at least once show. Some day we'll be in the financial situation to get season tickets, and we're looking forward to that day! I have never been disappointed in the quality or production level of an MTW show. The youth choir is always fun, and a great way to encourage the next generation into the arts. When I was a teenager I also had the privilege of apprenticing at MTW in both the lighting shop and the costume shop. It was an amazing experience for any young person who loves the theatre. It was also great to see shows from the back side of the stage and see, even more, the kind of work and dedication that goes into these shows. All the cast and crew are amazing and work so hard to bring the best to the patrons. I'm looking forward to seeing where MTW goes and the new steps it takes as Wichita considers the future of Century II. For being Off-Broadway productions, they produce some good shows. I went to see Jesus Christ Superstar in the summer of 2016, and I was very impressed by most of the cast. I am a bit of a theatre snob, and I really can tell when one person's voice is not up to par with the rest, and you should expect to see that here. But the ticket prices are pretty good for what you get. These people are really just a step or two below Broadway, and you can tell, but the quality of the overall production is good. What is really deserving of 5 stars is the location and proximity of the theatre to Old Town and also the guy who comes out before the show to talk to the audience and introduce the YOUTH CHOIR! Music Theater Wichita is simply amazing! The quality of talent is awesome. We saw Sound of Music and the voices were impeccable. The children were so engaging and Maria did a phenomenal job. MTW is also working with the city and offering shuttles for the next show since there will be another event in the area. I think it's great that they made this announcement before the show. They are trying to take good care of their patrons and help us avoid frustration. They even lowered ticket prices for some of the seats, which is what convinced us to go. I am just so impressed!
