Avoid this place! Just had breakfast there and wish I hadn't. Be prepared to pay in cash as they charge you extra to use a credit card. You'll see this listed on your bill as a 'Cash Adj Fee'. Yes, it was a busy Sunday but after 3 times of being told by the waitress, "I'll be right with you" while the table who sat just behind us (after we were seated) ordered their coffee and food, we had to ask why we were waiting. The answer was that they work in stations. Apparently, our waitress was working a station throughout the entire diner as we noticed her serving tables to our left and right, all the while passing right by us. Only after we asked when we could order did our waitress finally come over, and boy did she bring her attitude. The food isn't great. I ordered the half biscuits with gravy and 2 eggs with bacon. A half order is only one biscuit, which was crunchy, and over cooked on the bottom. The sausage gravy was flavorful. The bacon was undercooked as the fat hadn't been rendered and I had to cut it off the remaining strip. The scrambled eggs were undercooked in spots. They also seemed to out of a lot of breakfast options - no cottage cheese, no rye bread, no sausage links. NOT WORTH wasting your time or money...
Read moreWe arrived at Darrell's at 1:15PM on April 1. There were two other couples in the restaurant. I ordered a waffle and a side of bacon along with a glass of water with lemon. My husband ordered a waffle and a side of corned beef hash along with a diet coke. Our waiter was Jason and he was very nice and very attentive. The food was extremely disappointing. Waffles were flat and appeared to have been reheated. Syrup came in a plastic unmarked bottle. Bacon looked like it had been sitting there awhile also. The corned beef looked ok. When we got the bill, we saw we were charged $5.25 for the side of corned beef. I asked the waited if there was a mistake and he said "no". Our bill came to almost $22. Excessive for what we got and the quality of food. We will not be coming back. It appeared everyone was in a hurry to get the place closed and we got leftovers. Closing time was 3pm and we were back in our car at 1:59pm. Disappointing. Another couple in the restaurant complained that their food was cold. They had the special of chipped beef on texas toast. Over priced and poor quality. The waiter...
Read moreThe only reason they didn't get five stars is because of service, with them being new maybe they are just working the kinks out. Mountain Scrambler was what I ordered and it was AMAZING! Service was was wonderful AFTER we were finally greated. Although we did sit at the breakfast bar area so long that we almost got up and left, I still gave them four stars. I think once FOH staff gets some things down like greet times, consolidate steps, simple things like if you empty it, fill it. My server Jamie was the only one taking care of coffee's when he clearly wasn't the one using the last cup every time. These are the things you see at the bar area because it's right by the server station. Please let him know this is not a bad review on his part, HE WAS GREAT, but if FOH staff don't work together you will always have mediocre service!!! First impression is basically, a diamond in the rough restaurant because the food is great. If you are trying to decide if you should go or not, you should definitely stop and try it out....
