Worst experience ever. I grew up going here. 25+ years of this being my hometown pizzeria. I walked in today, after flying in with my daughter from Charlotte to visit my dad who just had surgery, for his first dinner out of the house in three months.
We called to make a reservation given three kids, a 2 year old who was last her bedtime, and the fact we were hungry. They told us in the phone they don’t take reservations, and we didn’t need one because Friday nights aren’t busy, but they would make one for ya anyway
So we arrive on time, and the hostess was extreme rude. She said “just so you know, you’re lucky you got a reservation because we don’t do that for anyone”. Meanwhile I look around and the restaurant as 15% occupied. Nonetheless I thank them and inform them I have a two year old with me and she just got off the plane and we are trying to enjoy a special family meal.
Then the same hostess proceeded to seat us at the worst table possible while there are numerous unoccupied tables. She then is extremely rude when I ask her to move to an adjacent table that was open. She finally obliged.
Our server was amazing. He tried to make up for the poor experience. But then come cold appetizers
And to TOP IT OFF... they NEVER brought out our pizza after even waiting for ONE HOUR. I’m not sure if it was due to the color of my skin, but I can’t imagine any other reason for the blatant disrespect and prejudice I faced all night.
We complained and we left. They comped the bill and delivered another cold pizza that was obviously rushed out of the oven to attempt to compensate for the experience.
As a person, a professional, and a local... I’m saddened and disappointed by the experience. My family will NEVER go back here.
What a disappointment top to bottom. The staff needs to change. Racism and this level of rudeness should not...
Read moreThere was a time during a horrendous rain storm that I was picking up several pizzas for a family gathering. Upon entering the restaurant's back lot in the near-blinding downpour, I drove into approximately 4 feet of water and ended up getting stuck on a cement block in the lot. I went inside and told management. I told them they needed to put something up to block people from entering the lot and getting stuck. Obviously, an unsuspecting driver does not expect a parking lot to dip down four feet when it can't be seen in a downpour! The management argued, but finally went to take a look out the back door. By then, two more cars were stuck! I suggested that workers go down Plainfield Rd and get orange cones that weren't being used at the side of the road. Eventually, the manager took my advice. The next day I noticed damage to my car from the incident and I returned. I was told to call Giordano's corporate office in Chicago. I did. I was told by a guy who claimed to be "Geo" (Gio?): "You're the one who was stupid enough to drive into four feet of water!!!" and he hung up. The pizza from this outfit is as bad as the customer service. Avoid doing busines with this chain of overpriced pizza-restaurants. Additionally, the pizzas taken to the family gathering were not fresh or hot, and the ingredients ordered to be on top of the pizzas was extremely skimpy, yet the pizzas were very costly. A compaint about the quality of the pizzas was not addressed properly either. This business is B-A-D!!! The entire experience was extremely bad. I obviously do not recommend doing business with Giordano's Restaurants anywhere after this...
Read moreCame here specifically for the lasagna. I ordered a family size lasagna and, after about 50 minutes, received an entrée-size portion to share with my family! I had to stand up and wave to the waitress about three times before she finally came to our table—10 minutes later. When I asked about the issue, she said they didn’t have the family-size lasagna. I showed her the option on the menu, and then she told me I should have ordered it ahead of time (which I did—an hour ago).
I asked her to please help solve the problem; she rolled her eyes and said she would send someone else to talk to us. We waited about 20 minutes—nobody came. She disappeared.
We had to ask another waiter to bring the bill, and it was hard because none of them would even look at us. I understand it wasn’t their issue, and there was actually a nice one who had helped us with a drink order earlier. In the end, they removed the lasagna from the bill—but that didn’t take away the disappointment of wasting so much time and having no one simply be there to present the options and help solve the problem. My parents ended up eating my husband’s pizza (that they didn’t want, but were hungry) to leave the small piece of lasagna for me. Though hungry too, seeing that completely killed my appetite… We still had five hours of travel ahead of us, which made the experience even more...
