I've tried Bodega a couple of times, today I opted not to get anything. They seemingly reduced their inventory, and their prices are obsurd for what you get, I think a veggie wagon wrap is like 10-12 dollars. If that was what veggie wagon cost everywhere it would just be what it is but you can drive down to Castle Street and get a wrap for 7 bucks at Luna Caffe! They took out the ice cream freezer which was just blue bell (would've liked to of seen a local area creamery!) their coffee menu doesn't list prices and with the cost of everything else in there I was scared to order a coffee. The employee behind the counter was on his phone the entire time and didn't really make effort to make a sale, all he said to us was are you looking to get coffee and got back onto his phone. Unfortunately this business really doesn't meet the needs of this neighborhood in my opinion. I have lived here for 17 years and we've been starving for a store that sells basic goods for years, I would love to be able to walk over and grab a coke or Pepsi, a bag of chips and a candy bar but unfortunately they only have overpriced items I would rather get for cheaper elsewhere. (I'd be perfectly willing to pay a premium on said products like you do at any convenience store, but I'm not paying 11 dollars for a sad baked potato.) unfortunately I just cannot recommend Bodega when I could easily drive 2 minutes to Castle Street and find my needs met at a much more accommodating price.
Review edit post business resppnse: Your employee was on his smartphone texting, so no he was not on the phone speaking to a customer. I also think it's not right to not post your coffee menu prices, why would I want to ask the price of every single item to make my decision? I've paid 12 dollars for a wrap here before so if you've changed your prices, good on you!
An additional edit as the business has changed: Current is decent, they still have some ready made options, as well as fresh eggs, and alcohol. The focus is now on the coffee! The coffee was passable, although the milk wasn't steamed properly and a handheld milk frother felt a little funny in a coffee shop, but it's new so I provide some benefit of the doubt here. I dislike still that neither the fabric menu board nor the specialty drink menus contain prices. The pricing was reasonable though, about 11 dollars...
Read moreThis place is very close to my home- I used to walk there one or two times a day to pick up prepackaged food from the veggie wagon (fabulous) and other stuff. The staff was all very friendly and recognized me whenever I’d come in. As a cancer survivor, I’ve had to take my safety during the global pandemic seriously- finding a place like this was a godsend so close to the house and everyone was always considerate- wearing masks and social distancing in the small store.
What I thought was a culture of caring for the safety of the community was actually just following the mandate. People are no longer asked or expected to wear masks now that the mandate has been lifted, and since this business only cares about legality, not safety, I can no longer shop here in safety....
Read moreI absolutely love this Bodega Market! They have coffee, ice cream, pre-prepped take and bake meals, a great selection of wine, and beer on tap. There is an adorable picnic area behind the bodega, where I love to sit and read my book and enjoy the treat I bought inside. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. Never once was I met with anything less than a genuine smile, and a pleasant attitude. The owners Jessica and Ryan really go above and beyond to make sure that the bodega is a clean, welcoming environment, and that you leave with a smile on your face . I Cannot reccomend this little gem...
