Terrible experience and customer service! We arrived about 10 min early for our 7pm reservation on a Friday night. We were excited to celebrate my (BIG) birthday here because we love Kipos and been there several times, and knew it was the same owner. Upon arrival we were told that our table was not ready yet and to wait at the bar. No problem. The dining room had lots of open tables, but we are in the restaurant business and understand kitchen timing and also the business of having diners spend some time/money at the bar. That said, the hostesses definitely had attitude, but whatever, we were surprised but nonplussed by that. The bar was beautifully decorated and clearly a lot of thought/ money was put into the decor. We sat at the bar (which was busy!) and ordered drinks. Bar stools were lush and comfortable. My champagne came and was about a 3 oz pour for $18. I took a pic and was talking with my husband about it, as we toasted. The bartender must have seen me take a pic because she came over and poured me some more champagne and apologized for the underpour. She was nice about it and so was I. Mistakes happen so gave benefit of the doubt. From where we were sitting we could see front door. Couples were coming in and being seated, so after about 20 minutes my husband when back to the hostess stand to enquire about our table. He was told it should be ready soon, they were “getting it ready”. After more waiting we decided to just leave at 7:35. Between the attitudes, the waiting and the overall lack of service we were not feeling it. We told the hostess (and the manager who was upfront) that we were leaving - and lo and behold suddenly our table was ready. Really?!?! I would definitely not go here unless you want major attitude without the service to back it up. We have eaten in amazing restaurants all over, and honestly this was really a terrible experience and it was made worse bc it was for a special birthday. Sad. Because of this experience we will also no longer spend our money at Kipos. There are many Wilmington restaurants that are happy to provide a great experience and care about...
Read moreSo we went to G Prime last week for a friend’s 40th birthday party. We had the private (semi private) room for about 40 of us. I have been in the service industry for over 20 years and have been a part of several opening staffs so I went in with grace knowing they had just opened. Well that quickly changed with my experience at G Prime. So let’s start with the fact that they listed many different top shelf bourbons that they did not have. They had three bartenders on but only one seemed to know how to make anything other than a glass of wine. Our server started out well but quickly became overwhelmed even though we were her only table (a table of 10 there were three servers in the room, and she herself told us she only had our table). None of our orders were taken at the same time so two of the tables were getting their food before we had even ordered while the other two tables got their entrees as we got our salads. I ordered the flat iron steak MR it came out cold and basically raw as if they had seared it. Now I can eat a rare steak this was raw not rare. The only flavor to it at all was salt it was like licking a salt stick. I am not one to send food back so I didn’t, however two of my friends said something to the server she asked if I wanted it taken away and I said if you are just going to toss it I might as well bring it home and my husband can cook it. So she wrapped it up. We then asked for our bills, you would think this would’ve been an easy request not so much here it took over an hour for our checks and I had to go up to them at the terminals to get it. Honestly for a place that is supposed to specialize in steaks and charge a ridiculous amount they should be the best thing I have ever had. It is extremely over priced for the quality and service received. I have told many people and customers of my experience and would not recommend it at all unless the prices reflected the service and food. The atmosphere was beautiful, loud but it was packed but the decor was beautiful. I do wish them the best and hope that they can better train their staff and either price the food at its quality or drop the...
Read moreWe have dined here a few times and always had stellar service. Tonight the woman serving us seemed off, like something was wrong with her. She was barely visible...then confusingly stacking plates at our table ...putting her arm in front of us, never checking in, filled wine glasses to people who weren't drinking. She disappeared after taking orders, she seemed out of it...just odd dining experience for a high end restaurant. Spending $500 bucks for dinner, we expect more..do better (also the man at the table was served first at each course ..every fine dining establishment knows the ladies should be served first) Tried to order bread for the table, couldn't find her, so we asked food runner who served the man first his response was "find your server you have to ask them" Won't be running back, the server seemed Denny's quality. (Also, it seemed like most of the dining experience all we saw was the backs of servers while they waited for dishes, trying to get someone's attention was difficult) In fine dining you can be attentive without being intrusive. The service this evening really just lacked all the way around. In the reservation I mentioned it was our daughter's birthday (also mentioned to hostess and server). We were wrong to assume that meant it would be acknowledged and a little candle and treat would be served to her without having to ask. Not the case unfortunately. When the server asked if we wanted dessert, we replied that it was my daughter's birthday she was then asked if she would like a dessert to go (weird). At any rate, thankfully, the food was very good but not enough to make up for the...
