I am not really one for reviews, heck I believe this may be my first one on Google, but felt compelled to write one after reading the most recent customer review for Wine and Design.
We were at the exact same resin class as this Jill Boyd, I only know this because she literally introduced herself as that to my daughter and I. I don't think anything in the world would have made this woman happy that evening.
I personally have been to Wine and Design several times over the last several years. While there have been some changes recently with new ownership, I personally believe they have made the experience better.
On this particular day, Janice led the resin class and as always she was great. She is very engaging and keeps the class fun and light. Most of the class stayed together and created the project as instructed, a few others kind of did their own thing, but to each their own I guess. Being the 3rd time we have done resin, we kind of knew what to expect. At sign up on the website, it tells us that we will have to wait 24 hours to pick up their project and we have done this every time without issue. My guess is, Jill did not read this and just clicked away, she became visibly angry when Janice mentioned this. At the end of the class, she very clearly stated that we could return either the next afternoon or during the evening class which began at 6 pm.
I heard no rumblings from any other attendees about new ownership, the resin projects in the past have all been done similarly, in fact we heard a few people comment how much better the store looks and how much they like the new selection of projects and paintings. The pricing on the projects seems fair, but I really don't do many crafts at home, so I am not really sure on costs. I think you pay for the experience as well. If you just want a perfect painting or some home decor you are probably better just buying it completely finished from Walmart. I picked up my daughter and I's project the next day around 3 pm, no issues. I actually met the new owner during pick up, he seems pleasant and welcoming. I really don't understand the poor review this woman left, we will be back in a couple of weeks for the light house...
Read moreVery disappointed. We had a group of 7 and could not sit at the same table. We were separated into a group of 3 and 4. Where we were seated, all we could see was the instructor's back. There was a TV screen, but still we could not see what she was doing on the canvas. The space is very cramped. There wasn't enough space for everyone's snacks and drinks and getting to them during the class was a pain since the place was so cramped with so many people and so little space. They told us if we messed something up, they would be happy to fix it, as they were wizards. I attempted to take them up on the offer, but the assistant showed me how to roll my paint brush and made one stroke, no effort to try and fix what I didn't like. Then they started rushing everyone. They started asking our group "Are you finished?"over and over again. They asked asked my friend 5 times consecutively and told us they needed to move the table. They wanted to move the table and take a group pic. My daughter didn't want to be in the pic, but they tried to tell her she had to be. Then when I told her she didn't have to be in the pic, they told her she would have to move because they wanted to push the table against the wall. They started moving the table against the wall before she could move. They promised my friend she could finish after the pic, but then took away her tools and paint. I found this to be very rude and off-putting. I will not go again. If you want a great experience, I would recommend Sip Lee Art in Eastover, NC. They have a great space where you can relax and enjoy your experience, they make you feel welcome with true southern hospitality, and you will take home something...
Read moreI attended a resin class on a Wednesday night and enjoyed getting to meet new people while learning a new skill. The $55 price for the pressed wood and a few dollops of paint is excessive. The employee teaching the class was nice, but didn't actually do any instruction so I had to ask the people sitting with me to explain. They employee insisted we leave our projects to dry, then pick them up the next day. I wasn't thrilled about having to go back, and for good reason. She couldn't give us a time that the studio would be open the next day...just "afternoon". The web site lists the hours as open until 8:00 pm, so I stopped by at 5:00 after work. The place was closed, so I called their phone number and the new owner told me they closed at 4:00 pm because they couldn't have their employees sitting around with no customers there. I explained the situation, that I was told to come by the web site hours, etc and he could not have cared less. I am now trying again to pick up on a night they have open paint scheduled, and they're closed. This is a one and done for me, I won't waste my time or money again. There are no customers here for a reason.
And a follow up to your response: the picture posted on Facebook was taken as we did the crafting, not after when the trouble began. Look again and you'll notice those pictures are no longer tagged to your business.
This was my first time visiting your business. As I sat with the other participants there were many comments about "new owners", and they were disappointed with changes made to processes. You...
