Curious location, AMAZING service & food!!!
I happened to have a craving for something different on a day off - I saw a chain Mediterranean spot on the map & the idea came to me to see if there were any local options - I googled “Mediterranean food near me” - and I’m sure glad I did!!
(This was a month ago on April 13th, btw!) My mother came with me to run some errands & get lunch. When we pulled in the parking lot, I told her “ok, we can just check it out & leave” because it didn’t really make sense being at the back of the side parking lot of a convenience mart…. As you approach, you’ll see that there’s a new deck, lighting & picnic tables. The door & entry are new & clean. The interior was completely unexpected. Bright, new & clean. A case of delicious salads & baklava! We were greeted with a warm smile from the Queen herself!
Bear in mind, the tables & chairs are basic & bare - but all is clean. There isn’t much ambiance beyond watching the magic happen in the open kitchen. Food is served on disposable plates, too.
But, oh the food! It was amazing!! I had a chicken shawarma plate with a special mint lemonade. My mom had a gyro & mint lemonade (it’s delicious & gorgeous!) We shared some homemade hummus with pita, too. Later a man somehow part of the crew came by & brought samples of fresh falafel for us & the other table to try. Every layer in my shawarma plate was incredible. The hummus was wonderful, mom approved (and she’s not adventurous!) We got a baklava at the end, too - they were too lucious looking to pass up - so worth it!
Let’s help this amazing restaurant thrive & grow - If you love Mediterranean, here is your new place!! (I am not related or paid to say this, I just want them to...
Read moreThis might be long and a bit of personal info but, if you’re looking for a review you can trust- I am hoping mine can be it. First thing you need to know is from ages 5 (ish) to 27 or so, I struggled with a severe eating disorder. This had a huge impact on how I experience food. While this may be difficult for people to understand, deciding on what to eat is still incredibly stressful for me. It never produces good feelings or excitement from eating it, either. So, when I have a positive experience- I feel responsible to let other people know.
Secondly, I am from Carrboro/Chapel Hill & one of my fav restaurants there was Med Deli so, my expectation of Mediterranean food was already set fairly high.
I got the Chicken Shawarma Bowl + the side of garlic fries. The women who worked there were so wonderful. When I opened up the food, I forced myself to take a photo before I ate so, I could post this. (I NEVER take photos of my food, fyi.)
I already knew how much this sh!t was gonna slap by looking at it. And you guys, this sh!t slapped so hard that I started to tear up for a few minutes because for me, with all the issues that I have around food, to genuinely enjoy and experience pleasure when eating is so rare that when it happens, I am overcome with gratitude. It was good from start to finish. Not one bad bite. And I had ZERO guilt afterwards (again, that doesn’t really happen to me).
If you’re considering going here- just do it. You will not regret it. This food is phenomenal.
Thanks for coming to...
Read moreFound Mediterranean Eatz on a random Google search for "food near me." So glad we did! Randa, the owner, will sell no food until it's ready. What we ordered was more than ready. Her food is the real deal! Hands down the best quality Mediterranean food we've ever eaten, and we have eaten it in the Mediterranean. When placing our order, we asked if our choice was good. Our server replied, "I guarantee it's good because my Mom makes it."
Mom Randa's beef shawarma pitas are absolutely amazing, like home cooked! The pita itself was larger than most, moist, hot off the grill and filled from first bite to last with tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned sliced ribeye - marinated for 72 hours. It's a shawarma pita that eats like a perfectly executed meal.
We also ordered a side of tabouleh to share, an ample portion of fresh and flavorful herbs with just the right amount of lemon. At $36 for two adults, the meal was more than fairly priced and quickly served.
As we finished, Randa, approached our table to ask how we had enjoyed the meal. She also explained the sign at the counter that said, "No chicken" available today. The chicken hadn't yet marinated for 72 hours. "It's not ready," she said.
Highly recommend this family-owned, casual dining spot where Randa's food is the star attraction!
Note: For first-time diners, entrance is around back...
