Cupcakes: 4.5 stars Customer Service: 0 stars
LONG RANT, but worth the read. I have never left a review on Google. My 4 year old and I walked in around 4pm (not even close to when they close) as we were waiting for our pizza next door. It was both our first and last time at this place. I don’t mind that no one was front and center when I walk, but when the employee (younger girl) came out of the back, she looked like I just ruined her day by being in there. No hello, no how can I help you, just “Can I take your order” in the most bothered voice. I immediately felt uncomfortable and was thinking about leaving and just not ordering anything but I didn’t want to do that to my daughter so I rushed and just asked if I could order two single cupcakes. She pointed to the case without saying anything. So I said “ok I’m looking for a list of what flavors these are and I don’t see any” (knowing this was going to probably annoy her further). As expected she replied in a very bothered tone. I paid and said “thank you” and as expected, no response. I can understand if someone is going through something personal. I’ve worked in food/bev myself, BUT if this employee is going through something personal, then her manager needs to give her the day off, so it doesn’t affect business. The cupcakes were actually good which is why I’m giving this two stars, but if I could solely rate customer service this...
Read moreThis morning is my first time going into Sweet D's Cuisine, and I have not even made it back out of the parking lot yet because I just had to write this review first! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by a warm and friendly staff. I wasn't sure what to order, so I just started looking at everything in the store and apologized, telling them it was my first time there. The owner immediately said, "we have a first time customer, please go get her a croissant." I was served a glazed croissant that made fireworks come before my eyes when I bit into it. Flaky, fluffy, absolutely delicious! Me, being a southern girl, I ordered a a good ole grit bowl with sausage, cheese, and butter. Not watching any calories today LOL the grits are made perfectly, not running but not super duper stiff / thick, perfect. Sausage was already cut up to mix up into the grits like a true southern grit bowl 🙂💯 it was absolutely wonderful! The place is decorated very nicely, there was a microphone in the corner maybe for Open Mic or poetry readings? I'm not sure, I should have asked. Either way, they have made a lifelong customer in me! I live in Southport but every time I come to Wilmington I will make sure that I go by Sweet D's for a amazing breakfast! Thank you so much for showing me such warm hospitality, and such...
Read moreMy family and I stopped in to pick up some desserts after dinner and it was important for me to support a black owned business. We were not disappointed. The moment you enter the door you are greeted with a warm hello and it was a welcomed sight to see members of the family pitching in to support the establishment from cleaning to serving.
As first time visitors we were given warm and tasty croissants to sample before placing our order. The croissants alone were worth the trip. We then ordered a variety of cake slices. The cakes were fresh and homemade no box ingredients here and the portions were good size
The owner went out of his way to come over to our table to check on our satisfaction and gave us a few complimentary bottles of water. The entire experience was great, we left satisfied and happy. I pray they are still in business when we return back to the Wilmington area and definitely recommend-as a must visit to anyone traveling...
