The Alchemist Shack — Restaurant in Wilton Manors

I really wish I could give the place 5 stars, but it wouldn't be honest. I read the other reviews and looked at the prices before coming to the restaurant. Tried to make a reservation (listed as a choice on my phone) but no one answered the phone that was listed on multiple tries. Turns out a reservation wasn't necessary as there were only two other occupied tables when we arrived at 7:45PM on a Saturday night. The counter person/server was very knowledgeable and friendly and took our order promptly at the counter and delivered our food to the table. We ordered a canned soda, a milkshake, an order of fries, an order of onion rings, a double bacon whispererer and a double dirty alchemist burger. The burgers were delicious and the fries and onion rings were served hot and fresh. The milkshake was good but of a very thin consistency--closer to milk than thick consistency described on the menu. The fries were crispy but obviously prepared from a bag of frozen fries as the majority were the straight cut variety with a few thicker crinkle cut fries mixed in. The onion rings appeared to be from scratch and were nicely browned. The fries and onion rings were very sparse in quantity for the price, however. We got six rings of onion of various sizes (less than 1/4 of an onion) for $6.50 which was much less than the quantity pictured on the menu. The quantity of fries was comparable to a large order from a fast food joint for $5.50. The burgers were served with a handful of potato chips in the take-out cardboard boxes they were served in (not served plated as in the menu photos). It was awkward eating out of a cardboard take-out box that was about 6 inches deep with open cardboard flaps when the staff knew we were dining in. Other tables also had their food served in boxes as well. It would be less costly for the establishment and a nicer dining experience to have the food served on plates or trays (as shown in the menu online) in my opinion. The total for the meal for two persons before tip was a little over $50 and just over $60 with a tip. In summary, great tasting burgers and friendly attentive service but overpriced for the quantity of food (especially the minimal onion rings and the $3 canned soda) and a strange choice of presentation of the food. The restaurant was very clean and tidy...

My family and I went to eat at the Alchemist and they had closed for the day but to my pleasant surprise they politely recommended to go next door to eat at their new addition. So happy they were closed because it is now my new favorite local place to get a yummy burger. My kids loved the sweet potato fries and Oreo milkshake! The service was wonderful. Lucia the owner of the alchemist was there to greet us and invited us on the weekend where they will have some samples and they will be introducing a new drink with butterfly blue pea!! ...

The customer service is absolutely outstanding, and the food is just as amazing! Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. Special thanks to Rafael, who went above and beyond, his attention to detail and friendly attitude made our experience unforgettable....
