The food is good and we are used to come here in our free afternoons happy hours have great deals. This last visit was very disappointing in many levels. We start by a way too loud dj, so loud not the server not our friend could hear a single word, we were sat right in front of the dj even though there were countless outside tables available - regardless, it was too loud even for outside. We saw the man at the door requesting the volume to be down multiple times and the dj would raise it again after a while. We didn’t want to cause any issues since we didn’t make a reservation so we didn’t complain about the music nor the table position.
Our server never said his name. He warned us that drinks would take too long, so we were patient. It did take very long, about 25min for the first and 15 min for the second round, still, we understood. After that everything went down hill. We ordered multiple things to share. Guac had no lime, no problem, we were waiting for eye contact to request, none for over 10min after food was down. Than we went to the bar to ask, the server we spoken to said we had to ask our server. The bartender left with no response once we asked her. Finally we went back to the table and when the second batch of food came over we asked for the guy dropping it.
Second batch of food was down: empanadas were rock frozen, ceviche my husband asked to be spicy had no spicy at all, one of our taco order missing and the spicy missing on the ceviche came way too strong in one of the chicken tacos. Again, we didn’t complain except let the server know that there were missing one order of the tacos.
Third batch of food never came and the server offered the check. Bill had everything in it and the server added gratuity- it was only 3 of is at the table. We usually tip 20% at least so no problem with that part either. But when we called the server to say that there were items there were never served he already came talking about gratuity, (which he didn’t say at first ) so we said there were no problem with that but we wanted the items that didn’t come to be removed. He than left us with this statement: ‘I know I am your server but you should have told me before I bring the check’. As if it was not enough, he then came back with a cutting board and the lady that was cleaning the table and challenged us on receiving everything showing the cutting board as if that proved something. I stepped in in a more colder tone and told him we didn’t have it and that we only wanted the correct Check. At last, check corrected no HH price in one of the items, gratuity still on, and he finally apologized blaming it in the kitchen. We paid and left. What a regret visiting today. Definitely not coming back at night ever, and not for our afternoon friends reunion for...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at this fantastic Mexican restaurant recently. The variety and authenticity of the dishes were astounding. Each plate we ordered was full of flavors that danced and sang of the vibrant Mexican culture.
The Fish Tacos were a revelation. Crispy yet tender fish, complemented by a tangy slaw and chipotle sauce that tied the dish together perfectly. A surprising but delightful balance of textures that had us coming back for more.
Next, we tried the Ceviche. Fresh, zesty, and bursting with citrus notes. The dish was skillfully prepared, showcasing the delicate flavors of the seafood beautifully. An absolute must-try for any seafood lover!
The Steak Tacos were hearty and robust, packed with tender, juicy strips of steak. The quality of the meat was unquestionably high, cooked to perfection and seasoned just right, making these tacos a memorable part of our meal.
As a vegetarian option, the Mushroom Tacos stood out in a league of their own. The mushrooms were succulent and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. Combined with the freshness of the toppings, these were a hit, proving that meat-free options need not be dull.
The dips, Guacamole and Cheese, deserve a special mention. The guacamole was creamy and fresh, with a wonderful hint of lime and cilantro. The cheese dip, warm and luxuriously creamy, was the perfect accompaniment to the crisp tortilla chips served alongside.
All in all, this was an incredible dining experience. The quality of the food, the warm, attentive service, and the vibrant atmosphere left an indelible mark on our evening. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican culinary journey, look no further. We can't...
Read moreIn the 30 years of living in SE Florida this was decidedly the most atmospheric and romantic meals, which I can recall having had here. The wonderful cool restaurant is found in a little used garden, a setting far more similar to those that existed long ago in the West Indies when they were secret isles with far fewer tourists and even less gentrification . Scattered around the grounds are mostly closed shops and other bars. Called “The Yard” - an appropriate name, but from a forgotten past, “The Alchemist “, “Lola’s”.plus ruins with wonderful murals As another thunderstorm approached, I quickly headed for the lights of as small outdoor bar with a larger space for indoor A/C heating. The ebullient and welcoming bartender graciously accepted my request for a Vodka Collin’s, once a popular cocktail of days gone by. Happy to comply Teresamade a truly delicious Collin’s - seemingly off the cuff. Now, I was hungry. She advised me of a chicken and pulled ham burrito- presented with a casual at home style with two sauces. Enormous and in the file for comfort food Just plain Delicious. While enjoying all the food and drink, I had been glancing at the rain, which had become torrential - possibly 3” in the hour, so upon leaving, though dry at the bar where I had been, stepping off the raised patio, was a very different story - rainwater soaking me ankle high, but happily,as I had been dining alone, no complaints from anyone, so I walked through the pool of water to my nearby home where my entry door had swollen shut. As I waited, my thoughts were on perhaps the nicest dinner of my decades living here in South Florida. This had been most special. Thank you Theresa and Mother...
