Although we received an "upgrade" and the employee was very nice, the property itself deserves a 1 star review.
We arrived late, around 11pm on a Friday night. We retrieved our key from the lock box and we're greeted by an employee who saw us thru the window. He came outside and immediately knew who we were. He was very welcoming, said "Happy Anniversary" and explained how to walk back to our room.
We we got to our door, the code we were provided did not work. We walked back to the front of the building to ask for help. He met us around back and gave us a different code which did work. In the dark of night and us rushing to shower and change for our dinner outting, we did not notice the "imperfections" of the room. We returned at about 1am and went straight to bed after showering (there were only 2 towels which causes us to dry off with wet towels). The a/c never brought the temperature of the room down cold enough for a good night's sleep.
We are early birds so we woke up some time between 5am and 6am. Our plan was to enjoy the resort for the entire day before heading out. As we turned on all the lights and began getting ready to head out for coffee, we decided to look out of the window at the pool. This is where we discovered the stick that opens the blinds was broken - no biggy we did it with out hands. While enjoying the view of the sand floor covered pool, we notice blood splatter on the window blinds. This triggered us to open our eyes and look around the room. We discovered blood on the second window blinds, mold on the bathroom walls, holes in the walls, unknown stains on the futon, and many misc scuffs, scratches, and paint chips throughout the walls in the bedroom.
We were generally disgusted by this and decided to just leave. We gathered out belongings and went to check out. There was no-one inside and the door was locked so we just left our key and departed. I had booked this reservation thru a travel service and reached out to them about the situation. They contacted the resort and received a response saying "the room is up to standard". Therefore confirming that blood on the windows, mold in the bathroom, and holes in the walls is a standard for this resort. If that in fact is a standard they are proud of, it should be advertised as an amenities on their resort profile to advise guests who may not consider sleeping next to the blood of previous guests as a "standard" for a $200+...

We arrive, and a sign says office this way -. so we go to that door, open it thinking its where we check in, only to be greeted by a guy who said no no no. you wait out there. and rushed us out where we waited for the property manager to come out and greet us. The manager gave us keys to the gate, and a code for our room door. Its summer in south Florida, your a/c should be on. Our room was HOT, so I had to turn on the small window unit. The unit struggled to bring the room to a cool temp for the 2 days we were there. We noticed a few issues immediately. The toilet paper holder, and hand towel holder was hanging by its last thread on the walls, ready to just fall off. The bed was a basic queen mattress, that felt like a board. ZERO comfort. 4 pillows total that had no rise to them. Flat as could be. Even folding the pillows in half didnt solve that problem, we ended up using our personal beach towels rolled up, as pillows. During the stay we had very minimal interaction with anyone really. After the first night being unsuccessful for me to get sleep, I sat outside to not disturb my partner who was desperately trying to get some sleep. I was greeted by 3 others who were staying, and all 3 of them were flying high as a kite. stumbling, eating stuff off the ground, talking in circles about random stuff. On top of that, by sitting outside, I got EATEN ALIVE by moquitos. SEVERELY. I know that the property cant help nature, but you can do bug zappers and citronella and stuff if you know your area has a large infestation of them. We did NOT have roaches, THANK GOD! However, we had big red ants visit through a hole in the wall just under the bathroom shower steps. If we had booked more than just the 2 nights, I would have just left and booked elsewhere. We survived the two nights and I am sad that this place didnt live up to the hype that I see on here. I can tell you from what I saw, there are rooms, and there are PREMIUM ROOMS. the premiums looked great, but the regular ones seem to be...
First, I want to say I think the property is a good location and very convenient. I do have concerns I wish to share with you regarding my stay.
As you know in this environment with current and past COVID concerns, cleanliness and safety of guests should be of the most paramount concern. Unfortunately, I did not experience that upon my arrival and inspected my room. The manager knows because he came to my room to clean the air conditioner from heavy dust and some black formation on the blower vent.
Aside from that obvious issue there was more in my experience; those were:
The ceiling fan was full of dust that instead of complaining I cleaned them because of my allergies. No instructions on television operation with two remotes. No replenishment of towels or refreshments, coffee, etc. or offered by the staff. Iron was not present, and location of the ironing board had to be discovered. Blinds were broken. Both swimming pools were never cleaned from yard debris. Room snacks were available, but no indication of additional fee and my card was charged additionally for them.
While these may seem trivial to some, they are all a part of the customer's experience or lack of a quality experience for the amount you charge for a stay. At $270 a night I would expect much better value for such a price. I could have, as a Hilton Honors member, stayed at the Hilton Marina for $565 for three nights, had breakfast provided, but chose your place for convenience and what appeared to be a nicely run facility. Unfortunately, my experience did not line up with my expectations at a cost of $810, plus $35 for...
